DIY Headlights

Just a quick question im about to do my headlights off my facelift EJ9 so that they are like the EK9 ones but im unsure on what part of the indicator surround you have to leave? I heard something to do with the MOT it requires you to have a certain bit left untouched?

From what I remember, when you disassemble the headlight and take the front casing off you'll see that there is a plastic cover surrounding the bulbs that you can remove. Paint this bit only, not the reflective casing.
