DIY front wind splitter

I guess...autox track these bits would not help you one bit, that would be mechanical grip I guess.

jesse888 what spring rates and coil overs are you running?

Your splitter should work nicely providing some much needed down force for the front wheels on fast corners. Really helps FWD setups with under-steer. I would guess that you could drop 3-5 seconds off your previous best lap times with it.

Spring rates should be higher with a splitter to keep it at your preferred distance from the ground when at speed. I am running 800lbs front and 1100lbs rear [ARP wing at the rear] on my track car. Not 100% necessary, maybe 75% necessary lol.

Enjoy!

Spring rates may be an issue actually now you say that.
I'm at 10kg front and I think 8kg rear basically standard Meister r, nothing fancy. Not massive spring rates.
Tbh I was hoping for about 0.5 seconds a lap with the splitter on. It's a 1min track(brands hatch Indy) with two 80+ mph corners if you do it right. The rest are Probably two 60mph and a 45-50mph hairpin.
So got a few corners where I should see a decent aero advantage.
I've a problem with my suspension set up for that track anyway. After the first turn is a massive hill that you drive down then the hill goes straight back up. My tyre is catching the metal framework(not arch liner)of the car under compression.

60mph is where you would notice how the splitter would be helping your grip.

Stiffer springs should help you regarding loading up of the suspension and rub issue.

Yeah I was thinking around 60 I should start to feel something. I may try adding abit more preload to the spring and then upping the stiffness alittle more to see if that helps.
If I was to up the spring rates I would have to get new coilovers so I'd rather try what I can first.
I've only had one trackday in this car so far and the brakes were useless/dangerous so haven't had the chance to really find out what it's going to do on the limit yet. I'm hoping mild understeer then the splitter will help even that out.

oh...one track day and you are installing a splitter?
Yes, get your tires, brakes and pads going, then suspension, then aero bits. Not that you need to in that order, but the areo works better if you can stop fast.

I'll install splitter once my lap times have stopped dropping. I've been to this track about 5-6times now just once in the ek9.

Got semi slicks, just refreshing discs, pads and lines with new fluid this week.
Suspension is easy to sort out once I've found my c-spanners. Just got to learn how to drive it first, shouldn't take me too long to get to grips with it. Handles surprisingly well.

Have since painted the airdam(sheet ally) in hammerite smooth. It's white but a lot brighter than the body work. Not much I could do about that really.
Will be fitting for japfest and giving it ago on track then.

I'll get pictures up of the finished article once I'm back from Tunisia.

Lol yeah hasn't been that hot today. A lot of clouds. I want to get back home to the car and my dog lol
Plus banks suspended my account, probably because I'm buying parts online from here.

Final fitment of the prototype.
Will give it a run out at japfest see how it feels.

I like this alot ! Will definitely get a closer look on Saturday.
