Had to change my cat for mot recently, got the right cat but turns out the japs have a temp semsor at the back of the cat, mine was rusted in so had to cut it at the wire then bung the hole. now my temp sensor light on the dash is always on and i'm worried my fuel comsumption will be messed up.
anyone changed there import to decat or replaced a cat and had a similar problem? any help will be much appreciated :) thanks

what sort of car is it?

all cars are different wether there imports or not

What does the light on the dash look like?

That should effect your fuel usage at all

All that the light is for, is to tell you that your cat is bad is if your calling it a temp sensor maybe over heating but I've never heard of that before

What they usually have on OBD2 cars is a secondary O2 sensor to sense that the cat is there as well making sure that the car is doing its job properly.

That wires that are coming off of the sensor how many are their and could you snap a photo. Then I can give you a more accuriate answer my friend

thanks for your reply, the wire is a single wire and it goes up through the floor of the car, the garage cut it and taped it to the body work, i would take a photo but cant get under the car!
what your saying does sound logical and i hope your right! speaking to someone else about it they said something similar, i just have heard different opinions and just need to know what to do!
if it doesnt effect the car in anyway i now need to know how to get the light to turn off! someone said i can just earth the wire??!!
