de-power steering...guidance needed

Ive just gone through the same process mate. Just google the crap out of it!! found some good DIY threads on how to. On crx forums? and a few other forums lots of pic step by step guides just print them out. Its the same method steve has mentioned.

But the garage im going to R-motion has reccomended they fit a breather kit instead and they basically created the "vtec challenge" so i wont argue with them :)

i completed this a while ago now lads. havent tried it yet as the car isnt on road. i followed loads of pics on a crx forum and another forum that i cant remember. the reason i chose to do it this way is that ive heard that this is the 'proper' way to do it as oposed to looping lines etc.

U need to hit it out, takes a bit of force... Use bit of wood or something so u dont damage the rack with the hammer....
Once out you'll have to cut off the metal seal. You can see a picture of this in my members ride.

I am trying to do this now

Do I just hammer the end of the rack gear to push the seal out ?
From the pinoin gear side ?

I just cant see how you get this black seal out

Anyone help ?

Cant really find it mentioned on any of the how to`s i have found

you just hit the opposite end of the rack mate. i nhad to hit it loads of times and with a fair amount of force (big ass lump hammer)
i also covered the end of the rack with a cloth that i folded up a few times before i hit it, save ruining it.

Yeah meant to update this

Got it out the other night, all rebuilt now

Didnt want to hit it to hard but had to in the end

Just need to get the fittings filled up

thats exactly the mistake i made...didnt wanna hit it too hard but in the end you realise its solid as f*** lol

I know this is a bit a bump, but i just wanted to ask how to align the rack properly once reassembling it as i've just jumped into stripping it without thinking about reassembling it.

Cheers,

Harvey
