I know it ain't an ek9 but would be great for opinions.

The cost of an supercharged dc5 is about the same as an Evo 8, if not dc5's can cost more.

Supercharged dc5 is about 300bhp/200tq

An Evo 8 would be remapped to 400bhp/400tq

Forget about running costs and servicing.

What would you pick and why? Problem with the dc5 it's only front wheel drive so hard to keep power down and generally it spins unless you take your time. But with an Evo it's straight down power etc..

Well with no costs then Evo. It's just quicker. Would the teg just be supercharged? Or track prepped etc.

If we forget about running costs and servicing then Evo 8 every time. This is coming from a DC5 owner. Servicing costs and running costs are usually the decider when it comes to polls like this one. I love my DC5 but a 400bhp Evo 8 would be a class apart!

as above evo is in a different league however running costs are ridiculous and when they break its big money ..

Massive brakes, coilovers, but generally it's track ready..

Hmm I know what you mean! That's why I'd rather leave the bills out and see what people would still pick :p

I love both cars, dc5 looks more evil looking but Evo is more aggressive looking :/

Evo 8, after owning one there a brilliant car to drive, they have loads of power when you want it and loads of fun to drive on wet roads with the 4wd:)

I would take Evo over any Integra or Civic, if running costs were no object and I could only have one car. I love my EK9, it is seriously fun to drive but Evos and STIs are in a different league.

Evo, but make sure its the MR version if its an 8. Running costs on an Evo aren't too bad if one doesnt drive it into the floor, its a bit heavier on maint than a honda, but mines been pretty civilised on the maint side of things. But as the rest say, if you break something, it becomes crazy expensive.

If you're going softer anyways then might as wel get an Evo. And maybe an Evo is in a different league in terms of performance but in terms of entertainment and experience is a total different one, if you like hardcore a DC2 or EK9 is gonna beat an Evo in terms of entertainment and experience.

If you want EK9 or DC2 experience in a better and faster package, go Elise/Exige.

What do you think of Evo 6's? :p

A lot more fun to drive than the 8, feels more aggressive and a bit more of a handful but that to me is why it was a fun car to drive, the 8's are very decieving car I found compare to the 6 in relation to what speed your doin etc

I now own an evo 8 and it would be my choice over a DC5 any day, the Evo Is a lot more solid feeling overall and is a better daily driver IMO

Servicing and general running costs are not as bad as people think, driving easy the petrol consumption is fine but driving them on drinks the fuel like most performance cars

The evo had endless power, torque and grip and they get a lot of attention from car entheusiasts

Interesting guys :D

Would you's still choose an 8 even if it was the most basic model? Evo 8 260 gsr or even just an 260?

They seem to sell for a bit cheaper and some with the Evo 8 me bits and bobs..

Kinda like buying an ej9 or ek3/4 and then putting in a b16 and all the bits of an ek9 on it. It'll never be the same as an ek9 but it'll drive the same etc..

For sure, there still the same car to drive but with less power and standard suspension rather than the bilstein that's in the mr's.. And it doesn't take much to get these cars up the hp, a few bolt ons and a good map will see 350+ easy..

For some strange reason I prefer the EVO5 and 6 :nerv:

Owned both. Dc5 and 2 evos.

I wouldn't go back to Honda after an evo.

There not even fair to compare.

My 7 was stock when I got it bar an exhaust. About 270 I think.

Check upgrades.
Boost controller
3 inch downpipe
Intake.
Remap saw - 370-350

New one has everything done to it bar engine build.

It makes 420/400 easy. I had it remapped when I got it.

As it was running too much boost and making too much for stock engine.

Was about 440/440 when I got it.

If I keep it I will do the rods and get it upto 550-600
