A friend recently bought a completely standard Black DC5 integra...

He's had it 3 weeks and already wants to sell it (he's a VAG man at heart and just doesnt enjoy driving the honda), it's a Cat D with 52k miles on the clock and he's offered me it for next to nothing..

I drove it today and it feels as tight as ever, as good to drive as my ep3, and my fn2, nothing felt wrong with it AT ALL. My only worry is that he has next to no service history for it, the owner before him hardly drove it (done 600miles between MOTs)..

Is this a big concern? It's a CAT D and i'm buying it as well as keeping the ek9 and putting that off the road for a while, i'm going to be living down near london in a few months for the best part of a year and wasn't going to drive the ek9 all the way down there... this makes sense as a "runaround"...

Thoughts?

If you want it get it, other peoples opinions are meaningless, do what makes you happy

True, very true.. Just thinking about the future if I ever want to sell it...

By the time I come to sell it in a year or so's time, it'll have 60k on the clock and i'll be selling it for Pennies... so I suppose it doesnt really make a difference.

"run about" wow glad you have money to burn lol it will be expensive to run for starters mate and with no history is a bit of a concern for me personally but isn't or some other guys also with it being a CAT D it whont be worth as much anyway! Also ano he's your mate but is that the real reason he wants rid after 3 weeks or does he no summat you don't? Just saying mate I wouldn't personally touch it but it's all down to you all the info I have given is personal to me and what I'd do :nice:

with it being a cat d mate theres not much to worry about cars get written off for nothing these days even a scratch lol as for having no history this is a slight worry depends how much ur getting it for obv course

Haha, he's offering me it for around £4k less than the equivalent non-categorised car.

It was made a Cat D after several panels were keyed and a claim was made, I drove it today and (having had 3 Honda Type R's, I knew what to look for) it's spot on.... he's a close friend of mine who's been into modding cars for years, he literally changes cars more than his underwear so I know it's fine, haha. Put it this way, if I sold it next year with 60k miles on it, i'd put it up for around £4.5-5k.

You have answered your own question mate go for it I you can afford it

Suppose, cheers for the input anyway guys.
I'll get some pics up if I get it tomorrow, EK9 and DC5 together, oh yeah!!

Also, looks a tad high at the mo as it's on 215/40/17 tyres and not 215/45/17.... Optional stilt suspension IIRC!

4k less than normal price....im guessing around 4k??

Bargain it would seem. Cat D is generally naff all, if your that worried about it buy it, get it RAC Checked and then you have a back up when you come to sell it! win win

snap it up if you can afford it mate, sounds a quality deal! :))

Id say go for it, regarding the cat D I wouldn't worry especially if it was only panel damage due to been key'd as it hasn't had a heavy impact then so should be straight. Also as your buying it cheaper you'd still probably wouldn't loose much on it.

Go for it mate, I have a black DC5 myself! (pics in new users section) I'd it was made a cat D just because it's been keyed and then re-painted, winner!!

if i could do what yout thinking of i deffo would, if you can then do it buddy :nice:

Ask him if he wants to px for my ek9 facelift

Bought it and love it.

Tyres are 215/40/17 which is a tad smaller than they should be so looks a little high at the mo. Definitely the fastest Honda I've owned.
