basically whats the difference is say a £40-50 unit to say a £300 - 400 unit? they all look the same to me, variable speeds, difference head size etc...

Anyone know a good, yet cheap one too? ( under £100 )

I have a Kestral DAS-6 Dual Action polisher – essentially the same as the Meguiars G220. I got 3 pads for each polish stage and a 500ml bottle of machine polish for £90, it’s a great piece of kit, and is highly rated.

Don’t really know what separates these cheaper ones, around the £100-150 mark, compared to the £400, but I have seen some pro’s using both the expensive and cheaper ones.

If its for casual use, id stick with either the DAS 6 or the G220.

where? been looking around and the best i've seen it for is £130 +

You'd probably find the expensive one's will last longer. as in for pro's using them everyday.

i'm gonna get one of the £20 ones from halfords... anything is going to be easier than by hand lol

had a look at them and they just look cheap and heavy to use. Might save up and get the kestral da6, as some as i find it for a decent price.

if you do find it reasonably priced... could ya post a link ? if its a decent price i'm willing to spend a bit of money ;)
cheers dude.

if your interested in the Meguiars DA guy beside me does good pricing on them.
few friends and i chipped in and got one between us.

meant to be "foolproof" the DA but i took bit off my paint down recently when using it with "3M finesse it" which is a very very fine compound

but this was due to a "highspot" in my paint which i forgot about....god damm!

anyway yes the DA are a great entry level machine.

i went to the hassle of importing myself a porter cable and made my own conversion kit to run it on uk plugs/ 230v instead of the US 110v

my porter cable has been immense however i bought this years ago before the g220 was available so i don't know which way i'd have gone now

best advice is don't scrimp on cheap stuff the bearings and/or motor brushes usually don't last

I got it through a group buy on another forum I use. They are about £120-130 usually for the kit. Il find the thread and send you the link if it's still on.
