Cv boot or joint? inner or outer?
I've done outer and it wasnt that hard.

1. jack up car

2. take off wheels

3. take off calipers and rotors (best to use impact screw driver for rotor screws)

4. undo bottom ball joint nut (remove cotter pin/slit pin first), cant remember if its 16mm socket? set loose the nut few threads but dont completely take em off, leave it there.

5. take out bottom ball joint from lca
(you need a ball joint remover, or big hammer and hammer the side of lca hard.)
like this (look up youtube?)

*this is not the bottom ball joint, this is the tie rod ball joint. the bottom ball joint is directly under rotor.

6. take off wheel hub nut (32mm socket + long ass breaker bar)

7. wd40 the driveshaft because usually theyre rusted and hard to take out.

8. might need to take out midshaft too, i dont quite remember

9. once dshaft is out, cut the metal band of outer joint (closest to wheel)

10. clean the joint with degreaser or wd40 if youre rich

11. the hard part, hammering out the outer joint itself you will need a specially designed punch. i used a ratchet extension as my punch, and biss ass hammer (worked but i wrecked my extension).
the cv joint is made of very hard metal indeed.

12. the cv joint can be disassembled into 3 parts if i can remember correctly, its very easy to disassemble them, you just need to be patient and figure out where the notches are (only goes out in a certain way, like a puzzle)

13. clean cv joint and assemble it together again, pack with new cv grease

14. dont forget to put the small metal ring on the side of shaft that's going into cv joint.

15. slide in your new cv boot

16. slide cv joint back in to dshaft nicely and hammer it in hard once or twice only with rubber mallet.

if you do multiple soft taps you might break the metal ring inside as the metal ring is softer than driveshaft and it gets stuck in between shaft and cv joint. it happened to me :nono:.

17. using your service manual, measure the length of your driveshaft before you put it back in the car. if too long, hammer it in a bit more on the outer, too short hammer it out abit more on the outer.

18. at this point you need a cv band tool to tighten the metal bands that come in your new cv boot kit.

19. put dshaft back in

20. phew done.

That is all the steps i can remember from the comfort of my arm chair :)
Hope that helps.

If this is your first time, you might need few tools to do the job properly (ie. not end up destroying parts/screws/your back) so if you think you're gonna do this a few times then it's better to invest in the tools rather than paying garages to do this. :thanks:
