right lads just a question on air intake
if a custom stainless pipe was to run directly from the throttle body to the vent in the front bumper(facelift) where a velocity stack would be attached to the end of it,could this be used as intake for racing only?bare in mind that there would be a filter element located inside the stainless tubing about 1feet away from tb---would this be okay setup to use on the 9?

Are you going for a real quality filter setup of are you just going to put a thin foam thing in the pipe to keep large debris out?

If you want an optimal racing intake you should do the tried and true short ram with cold air source.
Since you want a large filter for reasons of good filtration with little restriction, you will need to put the filter where most all filters go, in that gap behind the passenger headlight (although closer to the TB than the headlight) Behind the filter should be another velocity stack going to a tube with a smooth bend leading to the TB.
Surrounding the filter should be an airbox, the bigger the better. This airbox should be airtight except for the cold air source, and the tube going to it should be as large as possible with a velocity stack at the end. Put the velocity stack a few inches behind the cutout in the bumper because you want it to rely more on the ambient cold air than "ram air" going into the cutout (this cutout really only feeds good air at certain speeds)
You want this airbox+tube around the filter to be as large and unrestrictive as possible because for high rpm racing for both throttle response and power.
And due to problems of heat soak, it's best to use plastic or rubber or even fiberglass for both the airbox and post-filter intake tube. Stainless steel would heat up and then transfer that heat to the intake air.

Keep us updated with your ideas or plans.
