lads i was wondering if u could hellp me out..im a honda lunatic and for those of u who have done engine conversions i wana no wat wud the best engine setup be to put in my ej9 a B16 or a K20..and what type of price range am i looking at..the whole engine, gearbox, loom, ecu, driveshafts, etc..

it ses b20 on the title sorry i meant K20

Ultimately...K20 but you're looking around 6 grand just in parts. A B-series engine swap, you're looking around 2 grand all in...

Endlesshorizon in london will do you a full K20 swap into an ek for 5k.

Can get a B swap for a little less than 2k but set 2k as your budget

:nice:

depends on your pocket size, I mean, If it was me (Im building a cammed B18C monster on ITB's) id make the engine fresh with new gaskets/oil pump/stem seals etc as these are renown on honda engine with age and higher milage.....food for thought

S*** man i cant choose which one to go for..iv got a budget of 5k and yes the k20 might be better in performance but i wont have any money left for a turbo or supercharger..so i might stik with a b16..i dont no abou ur views lads but high mileage shudnt b a problem shud it?? if u strip the engine out and refurb it from top to bottom shud b fine i hope..?

If you're gonna do that...why not a b18 or even a b20?

cuz u gota change engine mounts and that becomes too much work mate..were as a b16 will slip right in hassle free..

Incorrect...b series have the same engine mounts

b series engines are good mate

to put a b18 in you will need b16 ek4/ek9 mounts and loom

or you can just go with a full ek b16 swap that would go straight in

I really don't see the point in putting a b16 into an ej9 if it's going to cost you 2 large, hell you could buy a tidy vti for that sort of money. K20 would be pretty bad ass though.

its not about buying a ek..sumtimes u jus wana create sumfin thats personal to u and a ej9 is one of the best base to start from..its called a project for a reason lol..I THOUGHT YOU NEEDED TO CHANGE THE MOUNTS FOR THE B18 DDDDDAAAMMMM...

If you've got that sort of budget, I'd go K20. You'll have enough power and performance to keep you content for quite some time while you save for your turbo or supercharger.

I had a B16 conversion done on my EJ9 through endless horizon (who are very good) for £550, so got it all done including the engine and labour for a smidge over a grand, can't beat the value of that :drive:

who said changing mounts is a big job? an hour changes all of them with the engine still in and 2bh if you were doing it right ud up upgrading the mounts to billet ones anyway.Id go for a b18 as if you spend your budget on the k20 ull have fa money for brake upgrade, exhaust ,chassis mods etc no point having a quick car if it doesnt have the handling to match which an ej9 hasnt got

nope they dont mate you have to use the rear L mount of a ek4/ek9
and the dual post mount of the ek4/ek9

I stand corrected

Agree totally with the whole handling and braking aspect of it...something to definitely have a think about

excellent reply and totally agree! Everyone thinks about the engine and how fast to make it but they dont think about anything else like clutch, brakes, suspension, bracing which ultimately are more important!
