Do any of the guru's here know what ohm impedance the coil should be in my dizzy system
Mine is reading 0.0 which I think is wrong..... I have a no start condition :(

If its 0 then surely that's an open circuit, or shagged it you want to put it that way.

0 is a fully non resistant circuit and idealy what you want in a normal electrical circuit.... just a coil should have something there for it to transform the voltage to whats needed for the plugs.... anyone tested theirs? An open circuit would read as high as your ohm meter would measure e.g > 1999 meg ohms thats defo shagged at that :)

Primary resistance 0.6 to 0.8 ohms
Secondary resistance 12.8 to 19.2 k-ohms

from HT.com [http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2306055]
Check your ignition coil..

-Make sure ignition switched is turned to off position
-Remove the dizzy cap
- Disconnect the primary electrical connectors to the coil
- Using an ohmeter touch the probes and compare your results to the values listed.

Testing Ignition coil

Primary resistance 0.6 to 0.8 ohms
Secondary resistance 12.8 to 19.2 k-ohms

...easy replacement part. Keep a spare coil or distributor on hand is my recommendation.
This is where my gremlins started with distributors.

Good luck with it!

An open circuit would say O.L, you may of had it reading too higher resistance setting like mega ohms?

What setting was the fluke on?

Thanks very much for the info guys. Superb!!!. Im an electrician by trade so the tester was defo on the correct range. Just needed a referance point to work with. Thanks guys the ek9.org community is spot on!!
