The lock on the drivers side of my car seems to be sticky, using the central locking button it locks fine but when i press it again it doesn't open and need to use the key to open it, the passenger door opens fine so i'm guessing it aint the battery any help appreciated cheers

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago dude, but on the drivers side.
I ended up putting some wd40 on the locking mechanism on the door and latch, and its worked find ever since. I'm not too sure if its the cold weather at the moment or what thats causing the locks to stick?.
Hope this helps.

You need to remove the door card and check if the solenoid is still screwed properly to the internal door frame, tighten if loose! Failing that, lots of spray oil in and around the solenoid. this has probably ceased because it gets more use than the passenger door

Hope this helps.....

My passenger door central locking mechanism also seems to stick at times. Sometimes it will lock with the alarm being activated, other times it wont and I have to lock it manually from the passenger door lock from the outside.

Think it has a mind of its own to be honest as when I start my engine both doors should lock automatically, but at times, not always, the drivers door locks and I cannot for the life of me lock the passenger door from the inside but as I am then driving or after a few minutes or so it will lock automatically, weird!!!

This may sound confusing, but would this also be the solenoid??

Cheers :)

Thanks for the replies peeps! will have a look tomorrow in daylight need to take door card off anyway to fit new door moulding, hopefully just needs some good old wd40 lol cheers

H1ONDA EK9.....
ek9 doors are not good at keeping the water out from the inside skin. this build up of moisture could have got into the wiring connectors and is causing a short. try drying them (hairdryer) and then tape them up nice and tight
Also if any has been messin round with the cars wiring the alarm connectors inside the doors or around the steering column could have been reversed, happened me once!

GL wit it...

T7PE R....

Thanks for that, I shall give it a go, fingers crossed, nice one... :)

same problem on my passenger side door..seems to be getting worse and worse..cant even manually open the passenger door from inside anymore.have to use the key all the time. strange rattle comging from near the interior handle though so im assuming something has come loose.
a friend of mine had the same problem on his 9. seems like a common fault somewhere

I had a problem when i first got my car but it seemed to cure itself until not long ago when it came back again. The central locking would lock the doors no problem but it wouldn't open the passenger door. it would half unlock but not enough to be able to open the door. I had the door card off but couldn't see what to do so i just sprayed wd40 on the mechanisms and it worked perfect again!

Went out to the car today and was away to give the mechanism the wd40 treatment but central locking was working fine! Must have just been the cold weatheras someone said

Does anyone have the same problem as me, where the central locking fob on the keys only works from like 3 feet away, and sometimes doesn't even work if I'm on the passenger side of the car :nono:

It's not the battery in the fob because I have checked and replaced it...

Any ideas what it could be?
