Hey guys,
Random question.
I have a 1998 Ej9 and I'm not sure if it's a problem because the car is a bit too old or I don't know.
When I press the button on the key to open/close the doors of the car I HAVE to be about half a metre from the car for it to work.
Anything further than that ..... no response =( =(
What could be the problem?
And what can I do to fix it PLEASE. Because it's banging my head in!!!

THANKS A MILLION to whoever helps me because it makes my EJ look shajt =(
Thanks,
Jerry.

sounds pretty normal to me! I have to be beside the car for it to unlock for both civic's i've had.

Ohh .. thought only mine was like that! :O

So there is no way for me to make it any better? =/

Aftermarket alarm system with door unlock.
You can get a lot greater distance with those

 yeah mate that is just standard with the EJ9, I think its because it uses infrared from the ignition so need to be really close and aim it towards the ignition basically haha
As the guys said only way to improve this is get an aftermarket alaram system not only will it let you open the car from further away protects your can better against thieves :nice:

alot of the standard alrams are gash like that....
my Toad alarm is good for about 60 metres away.... a bit further if i put it up to my head..

in fact you should try that old trick... put your key fob to your head and try it.... i was surprised when it worked !!! :)

Yeah that is a good trick dude but the only thing is with the EJ9 its no an alarm its only a central lockin device as they dont come standard with alarm lol that old trick doesnt do much, probably makes it worse haha
infact there is a point I need to get myself an alaram too lol

Ah my bad lol clearly says central locking in the thread title also. :((

Found a receipt for my alarm system £450 fitted... :wow: i would not have payed that TBH but it was fitted when i bought it.. last week i was camping in the lakes and it went off on our campsite at 03:30... good to know it works and is loud but not in that environment lol.

Haha yeah man, easy mistake to make though

Wow! thats pretty hefty like, least you know its good hahahah that quality, was someone tryin to steal it or was it just windy? lol
