So I'm in the market for an EK9, been looking for a while and this cropped up on pistonheads - Used 2009 Honda Civic Type-R for sale in Essex | Pistonheads

Really it's exactly what I want (minus the exhaust and sub!)

But is it just me or is £7000 just too much for an EK9? I know it looks very clean, but I've been into Honda's for around 7 years now and I just cannot get over how much things like EK9s are up for. Considering they're only getting older and rustier!

That is very over priced. A few years ago a good clean fresh import facelift rx would fetch that much. I would say this should be in the region of 4.5k. Im sure it will be hanging around for a while.

I would personally say that £4500 would be cheap for that. £5500 ish I would have thought be more the mark? But I guess it is a pre facelift.
That's if it's in "mint" condition. I'd ask for some better quality photos in daylight as well.

I agree, i think £5-5500 is fair for something like that. Obviously pictures aren't the best but it's fairly local to me, so seeing it in the flesh isn't too hard.

I think the sound system will put a lot of potential buyers off.

It's very low mileage if its genuine though.

My 99 spec import has cost about that and is slightly higher mileage, they are getting very hard to find in Japland and are going up in price over there.

Over the past year that I have been looking I struggled to find much under 6k that was quite standard and clean.

Worth it for dat dope ice install yo...

I found loads... you're not looking very hard.

I agree, anything grade 3.5+ in near standard condition was starting around the 6K on the road in UK.

The price of a good pre facelift EK9 is around 5k I reckon.

Most tend to have lots of mods on, to high mileage, or are not the best condition.

I think in a year of looking only 2 came up (that I found) that were 95% standard with under 70,000 miles and good condition that were not silly prices.

I may just have high standards though :(

I think this car is a little highly priced however its only a asking price and no one ever gets the asking price right?!

Buy one & wait until the plebs in the USA can finally import them (like BNR32's now) & they will go up in value as they'll buy EK9's in a few years and **** them all with gay stance parts.

Ohhh this is making me wana keep mine for a few years tucked up in the garage then it will be worth allot of money.

I nearly bought this exact car about 2 years ago, back then it was on 50k miles and didn't have all the audio setup in the boot. I only pulled out due to a sudden change in circumstances in my work.

The guy selling it back then originally wanted £6,000, which was still a lot but it was immaculate, and the buddy club wheels and exhaust were brand new back then.

Looks in good condition still, not too sure if you are considering buying it? If you are I would agree way overpriced.

Do you recall who had it before?

I would consider buying it but only for the right price.

I'll ask for minimum £10k if someone asked me for mine, and I'm not even joking.

If I remember correctly.. Duncan on here, who imports mostly EK9s, had a thread up a while ago saying he was struggling to find an ek9 fresh from Japan at a decent price and the cheapest was roughly £20k? Correct me if I'm wrong though
