Hey guy
I need little help I'm planning to buy a ek from Ireland and i just wondering has any one here bought one from Ireland before ?*

Can i just get a ferry and drive back once I bough it?*

Would the police be funny about it of I get pull ?

Is it easy to transfer to uk plate?*

I sold my s13 to a lad from the Uk. got the ferry over i met him at the port in dublin and he drove it home. He said it was easy change over the plate's,

I send the log book off to shannon over here as normal and they sent on over what he needed within i think it was a week or two.
 
If your buying from Northern Ireland then you can drive it without a problem if it is taxed

Vehicles registered in NI that move to GB are no longer classed as being imported to GB. Also, vehicles registered in GB moving to NI are no longer classed as being imported to NI.

However, if you're importing from Republic of Ireland then you need to first order an import pack from dvla and register the car as an import, it will cost you £55. You have to make sure you're insured on the car and if you're driving from Ireland then make sure the insurance covers Europe. In addition you would have to tax it as soon as you enter England.
 
As above ...and you need to mot the car too

Just make sure your insured and you should be okay once you get it home you can start working on logbooks and tax etc!

5/6 years ago it was us irish goin to england for your vtis now your coming back to retrieve them!ha just shows how bad things are over here these days :(
 
I did this about 2 months ago. As above, just make sure you are insured and you get the log book from the seller. I actually got pulled over when driving back through ireland (police had a block in the road and were pulling random cars) - I showed them the log book and said I had just bought it and they let me on my way. Drove back home and it's now sat on my drive. I have the pack from the DVLA but need to do a few bits for the MOT so can't tax it yet. You'll probably need to fit a back fog light, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem.
