As above my ek9 .. great pedal when the car isnt started rock solid but when started its spongy and pedal travels too far but it still stops like a **** but youve to press the pedal too far..i know its not the brake master cylinder because my mechanic clamped the pipes and pressed the pedal and theres pressure so its not that.. weve dismantled every caliper and cleaned them alll out. He recons its the front left brake pads are bent he seen it happen to a few other yokes before believe it or not! Im guna change the pads tomorro and see what it does but just wondering has anybody elze had the same experience? Its mad annoying because it failed the nct twice already because of this!

Tried to rebleed the full system with fresh fluid? Could also try a brake stopped as would reduce the master cyclinder from having movement and give a better pedal feel. I've got one on my ek9 and its huge difference over standard.

Bled the system 3 times already sucked all the **** out of the system and filled it with ferodo brake fluid. Yeah if i can find a brake stopper in the mext few days il get one alright, what i dont get tho is i used all the exact same setup thats on my ek9 i used it all on my previous ek3 literally swapped every brake component from my ek3 to my ek9 amd it all worked perfect on the ek3

Bit of a ghetto trick but try leaving a heavy weight on the brake pedal overnight. Disconnect battery and open reservoir cap. Should bleed out any excess air

i don't get it tho.. when the car is off it has an unreal pedal.. but once I start it the pedal sinks and fades straight to the floor.. master cylinder is grand because we clamped the hoses and all and its building pressure I changed the pads today and still the same thing anybody have any ideas? wrecking my head cause I cant insure it til its nct'd :(

I had a similar issue when I removed my mums calipers on her dc2 to paint them. Pedal was fine before I took them off, long travel and spongy pedal after I put it all back together.

Tried master cylinder and servo, no different. Put the original back on. Still the same (obviously). Bled the system till my fingers bled, no such improvement.

The rear disks look a little past their best, so I replaced the rear disk and pads. The pedal improved and after a about 100 miles the pedal was back to the way it was.

Was your pedal solid when the car was turned off?

My pedal is rock solid when the car is off but as soon as i start the car the pedal sinkss straight to the floor.. ? .. i took the calipers off my ek3 to put onto my ek9 amd same as you they were perfect on the ek3

Yeh, rock soild with no servo assistance. As soon as the engine was turned on, the pedal slowly went down, far too much for my liking.

The brakes were working fine. It would stop no problem, even performed a few emergency stops but the pedal travel was to excessive. That was untill I changed the rear disk and pads and the pedal slowly came back to normal.

Bleed according the Honda service manual procedure except do it with engine running, it should be way better.

Then go for a drive and turn on the ABS several times, it will splitt the big bubbles in little ones easier to evacuate.

Re-bleed with engine running and you should have something better.

Car was bled tonnes of times.. found the problem.. the vaccum pipe going from the servo to the intake was on backwards we changed it around a few days ago but found out today that by having the vaccum pipe on backwards ****** up the one way valve in the pipe.. changed it and its perfect now

It's usually the small things that cause the big headaches! Glad it sorted now :nice:
