brakes not working??

so basically got in the car today and as usual pumped the brakes, and nothing so checked the brake reservoir and was below the minimum level and light was on dash too, think i got or leak or does it just need topping up. brake pads are fine as was changed last year and not had much use? can anyone shed any light on this

Check for leaks and try bleeding the brakes after topping up the reservoir
