Thanks mate

Saw your car at Mimms, looking amazing as always. I really want your Mugen lip!

I have been quiet for a while but know Im back

Unfortunately my B18C started smoking and burning a little bit of oil. No one could work out what was wrong with it as it only smoked under 3000 RPM and only after over run when I put my foot back down.

Any way after much deliberation I decided that I was going to rebuild it.

Lucky for me I work at Honda in Oxford so me and one of the master techs set about the task.

When we took the head off there seemed to be oil on one of the exhaust valve stems in cylinder 3, so I thought I might of got away with just head work untill we noticed a slight score in the same cylinder.
Rather than take a chance we had the whole thing apart.
I dont know and will probably never know what caused it to fail, all the techs at work said that the engine looks in amazing condition and looks like it hasnt covered many miles as there was no wear on cams, bearings and cylinders.
Unless the fact it hasnt done many miles has hindered me as things could of gone brittle.

I sent the head away for a light skim and to be pressure tested and all the valves seats to be recut.

I had the block honed to get rid of the score.

List of OEM Honda parts I replaced:

Sump Gasket
Valve Stem Seals
Head Gasket
Piston Rings
Connrod Bearings
Timing Belt
Tensioner
Head Bolts
Oil Pick Up Gasket
Oil Filter

Here are a few pictures that I took while we were working on it.

When I first found out it was the engine at fault I was thinking of braking the car but then I thought better of it.
Also wished I hadnt sold my B16B which had never let me down.

Oh well I new have a fully rebuild B18C that will hopefully last me

must have hurt a bit with the thought of breaking it. I was going to do it to mines due to personal stuff. I'm glad you're not breaking it though! such a mint 9! and I don't blame you for selling the b16b, for more power with a b18c, but yeah it's still running mint here :) just due an oil change soon :) hope it serves you well after the rebuild

A few pictures taken by a friend just before it went in for the engine rebuild

These pictures should be in the next Total Honda magazine as I am one of the Honda Idol 2012 finalists

Please vote for me when you can.

I had been looking for a set of red Bride seats for ages but the only ones that came up second hand were black. I looked at buying new but when they came in just short of £2k i decided against it.

I was over the moon when I saw that Dunx from Fast Jap Cars had a set of Bride Zeta IIs in RED!!

They feel so good to drive in and we wieghed the Brides compaired to the OEM Recaros and I will be saving 12KG for the pair.

My friends also bought me a Skunk2 gear knob for my birthday that I put on.
