After much thought i am seriously thinking of Turbocharging my EK9 :D

My maximum budget is £3000 to buy everything i need and hopefully fit most of the kit myself and pay my local tuner to map the ecu i eventually choose. I have read countless threads and researched lots of info and spoke to my tuner and some suppliers and my shopping list is now taking shape. I am going to list the kit i am going to purchase and any advice or ideas are welcome.

1 HKS bolt on turbo kit which includes
Turbo: T25G
Maximum Boost: 0.4/0.5bar
Comes with:
Exhaust Manifold
HKS Turbocharger (with actuator)
Exhaust Downpipe
F-Con Mini (with boost map)
All gaskets/jubilee clips needed for installation
HKS Racing Suction Kit
Piping from turbo-outlet to intake manifold/plenum
Mounting brackets

RC 440cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump
ARP Head studs
Colder spark plugs
Fuel pressure and Boost guages
A custom fabricated FMIC with the pipework needed.
Ditch the F-con mini and purchase a ECU which can adjust timing and fuelling ie Greddy emanage or Hondata

I have considered a greddy kit but as this kit is for a B16A2 and the injectors that come with the kit are 310cc which i think would be to small? Plus the HKS kit is a little cheaper.

Any ideas welcome :nice: really considering this as i know the car is crying out for more power because everything is so over engineered:bow: The one thing that i want to make sure is the safety of my engine as i can't afford a engine rebuild! That's why Boost will be capped at 7 psi. :D

I would add a .064" (1.65mm) headgasket from cometic to that list to be safe, it will drop your compression down to 9.76 which is much safer than the factory 10.8 and you can install it the same time you do the headstuds :nice:

How much money is the HKS kit? i thought it was discontinued??

Very good advice! heed this!

You really want to put a set of pistons and rods in there if you want long-term reliability. A turbo-kit is the cheap way.

I can supply you with a package for considerably less including management that will give you approximately 230bhp WITHOUT turbo gaurenteed :nice:

Thats funny comming from someone with a turbocharged car... and the word "turbo" in there screen name. You having problems with your setup or something? last time we talked you loved it!

Thought you might say this but wanted to fit most of the kit myself and have never tackled anything more than external bolt ons.:(( Do you have to take the head of to fit headstuds? The Basic kit which is for a integra dc2 type r is £1800.

With a B16b head this is easily acheivable without turbo'ing, youve got a head that flows pretty damn good from the factory. if you wanted some serious power and wanted reliability then youve got to spend a bit more than £3k to have that with a turbo setup.

Turbo 'kits' on their own are the 'cheap' way of turbocharging. full internal modifications and management is the more expensive but reliable way.

..in 114miles time my car will have clocked 10,000 miles on this turbo setup. I use mine every single day! its 100% reliable because I built it and tuned it.

i put the engine in with 49200 on the odometer, now I have 59086miles clocked. when it gets to 40-50,000 miles on this setup, itll need new piston rings and thats it. at the same time ill re-blueprint all clearences to assess the wear and ill put new bearings in it for longevity. My car is a real streetcar, not somthing only brought out on weekends. People who know me on this forum can vouch for that

on i see what ya mean, my car is a lazy weekend bastard, but i dont even drive 6000miles a year with my everyday car, i live 10 miles from work lol, I been slowly making my car more streetable, especially now that i decided to keep it.

want me to knockup some carb-legal stickers for you? ;) lol its harsh in CA

tempting but cops here are way too smart  I'm just honest with them, also cause i am white they don't bother me too much, i just make sure to wash the car on days i drive it so it looks clean and if i get pulled over I'm honest, i tell them everything i have and that its just my weekend car, so far i been lucky

cool, doesnt sound too bad. lol @ being white and less hassle.

Anyway back on subject :nice I think if i change the head gasket like mentioned and get a fully mapable ecu ie greddy ultimate i should be ok as long as its mapped well and boost is limited to 7 psi? I really want to give the car some low down torque and any na tuning i could carry out would just move the power even further up the rev range. :nono:

Cant find a cometic headgasket in the uk how about this one? Says its 2.1mm will that lower the compression?

with the headgasket i suggested you should be good for 10psi with good mapping and fuel. with OEM headgasket its just a gamble in my opinion, you know i blew up my B16b with turbo  i wish i had listen to people and lowered the compression a bit

2.1 is a bit too thick, you might have to start adjusting your cam gears to make up for the difference, i can get you a cometic if you need it, they take like 3 weeks though as they are made to order, any cometic dealer in UK should be able to do it :nice:

Cant find a cometic dealer in the uk so i might just take you up on that offer if its not to much trouble.:nice: Hell you can supply the hole kit and mark it as gift if ya like lol. Going to ring my tuner today and ask about some prices:shocked::nice:

Well sadly the HKS kit is not offered in my country so it would probably cost more for me to get it and ship it to you :(
