Be careful with this type of wheel nut

I finally got the nut from hell off yesterday by drilling it out. Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and advice :nice:

Glad you got it sorted:)

Have you received/fitted your nuts from rare rims yet?

Still trying to decide whether or not to go for their silver/crome or black nuts:confused:

i had the same problem using ultra light weight bolts, i found out the problem that the garage done them up with an air gun and that's a no no with Alli nuts....

Thanks, yeah i've received the nuts but not fitted them yet. Probably fit them on monday when i'm off work next

anti seize lubricant and torque wrench
read it, know it, live it.

I always use copper grease on threads plus torque wrench. Aluminium nuts just aint worth the hassle....end of.

What maker were these? Skunk2?
I have been using mine from Skunk2 for over 6 years, same lugs, no fail ever.

iv been thinkin of getting a different set of nuts for a while il maybe think twice about it now!

Me too. Had Skunk2 on my race car for five to six years and never had a problem with them.

They're getting a bit worn now around the edges from wheels on/off too many times though, time for some new ones!

I don't see why they would be any problame on a street car that has the wheels off once in a blue moon, although some of the guys round here seem to change wheels lots!

Found some good advice of how to get the right nuts.....

The local motorsport shop came out to my car and he had about 15 different types of nuts all with different angles that touch the wheel.

what he did was felt tipped the nut and then rested it in the hole in the wheel and then looked to see how much of the pen had come off meaning he was trying to find a nut that had the best contact with the wheel.

great piece of advice i thought i would share as he said so many people just over look lug nuts, he stated there are so many different types you have to trial fit loads before getting the best fitment

they've been racing 106 Rallyes for years so i trust them. so far had no problems with the new nuts will get a picture of them soon as they are quite strange....

steel though so no f****** about with aluminium lol.
