[/IMG] If you are using this type of wheel nut, be very careful when removing them. I must've previously overtightened it, one of mine just snapped off in the socket. Still trying to get it out :angry2: I've tried hammering a smaller socket on there, even tried hammering it with a chissle but no luck, i don't want to damage my wheel. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it? It's steel wheel nuts for me from now on :((

man i know your pain! had a locking nut snap as i was trying to take it off before. tried everything to get it off but in the end admitted defeat and took it to a garage and they got them all off no problem. impact guns are glorious! :)

Yeah probably have to go to a garage to get it done, did they damage your wheel getting the nut out?

Man that looks nasty! Looks quite tight to your wheel, i'd use a small drill bit to drill through the side of it between the threads and the wheel.

Thats what i did with a set of lockers i lost the key for!

ouch :( its so close to the alloy as well, as barryl said use a small drill bit jus be very careful it doesnt jump the bolt.

Yeah did think about doing that, i just rang a friend who works at a garage and hopfully he's gonna take a look at it later. I will sugest that to him thanks.

I used rays light weight lugs on my wheels on kosei k1's and they ended up sheering a bolt of my hub and 2 off them came off when driving. i was lucky there was only one lug holding the wheel on when i got out to look and find what the vibarting noise was.

this is the result on my wheels and my hub.

i called them and they stated they are only made for their wheels and competition use lol they told me the stresses on the road in the uk will be different to the race track..
basically they said all they could to make out it was my fault for fitting them not with their alloys. he also said titanium over time can stretch.
WTF lol

Thats shocking Topher !!!

The picture of your wheel never worked, yeah they will do anything to get out of it.

i snapped a stud on mine too with a rays nut
still need to get it replaced
shows how strong it is though compared to the OP

To be honest i would never use aluminium wheel nuts again, far more faith in steel ones

You may get ones that look cool and are lightweight but it's REALLY not worth it

X2. Not a fan to be honest. I run BC extended nuts but theyre forged chromoly and really heavy duty.

When this happend to me i had to break off the stud and replace it.... Its very dangerous to do so i wont recommend u trying it without additional help

na mate, they just whacked on a beast of a socket and the impact gun got it off no bother. although i did poop myself as they were banging the socket on!

the problem with mine the first time round when it happend with some cheap ass ally nuts were that they were super soft so i couldnt get a grip of it with anything!

ended up drilling the whole thing out slowly

There's a stud removal tool think HALFORDS stock them. Basically the inside of it is a left hand thread so as you try and undo the sheared bolt it grips onto it and removes it.

I've had three sets of mcgard locking wheel nuts f#ck up on me in the past. Sticking with oem nuts from now on
