where could i get a b18c engine and gearbox at a reasonable price, i don't mind going to england if i have to??

noooooooo ebay, too many scammers!! if you already have a b16b you could just stroke it for A LOT less money.

so this 1800cc stroker kit just basically turn the ctr engine into an itr engine?

what do you need to do this conversion?

thanks

Yea, basically B16B is a destroked B18C.
That is the most serious car surgery!! The whole engine will come down and break up to pieces. There is a huge issue concerning the crankshaft balance. Be carefull!! :nerv:

wow! its not that intense, you just disasemble the shortblock, its not that crazy, i had to do the same thing when i replaced all my bearings, i believe you just get the spoon stroker kit and some bearings unless the spoon kit comes with bearings. and its actually going to be BETTER than a b18c engine becuase the CTR cams are a little more aggressive.

Manos what do you mean by crankshaft balance? all the spoon parts come balanced, can you please elaborate on this?

has there been many of the ctr with this conversion? when you change to this kit, is it alll you need to do is replace the pistons, rods and crank? do you need to over bore the cylinder at all?
obviously you will need to get it remaped but im thinking of gettin a apexi power fc commander? good idea or not?

cheers

i personally prefer replacing the engine and gear box!!! the integra has a final drive as standard, so if i was to do the spoon way i'd need the final drive, also its cheaper in my opinion to take out the ctr engine and sell it n replace it with the itr engine n gear box n more reliable as your not playing with any of the main parts, i could b wrong but i'd prefer the straight swap, lesss hassle n work!!1 n cost less

Doing the stroker conversion kit is justified IMO if your engine has some mileage on it. The money you spend also gives you almost brand new engine performance with no compression loss, as compared to dropping in a different engine whose condition you do not know of.

And yeah there is nothing complicated about doing the conversion, as long as the mechanic knows what he is doing and applies the specified torque rates properly. Infact Mr.Spoon suggested that we DIY it with a couple of mates. :D No boring of the cyllinders is required, the stroker kit is basically plug and play, and is one of the best and most commonly mod done on CTRs.

The stroked engine will run on stock B16B ECU (it will compensate for the extra air taken in by the extra displacement), but it will not be optimum and its probably a good idea to remap the ECU to really benefit from the mod, especially for long term reliability.

While the shorter 4.7 final drive on the 98' ITR is nice, I'd like to think that for daily use the CTR 4.4 with a 1.8 stroker will be sufficient. Or atleast I hate driving 150km/h at a constant 5000rpm, and having to change gears all the time. :D

98+ itr box with the 4.7 fd vs a b16b box with 4.4fd you end up at the same rpm in 5th gear about 4600rpm at 80mph the first 3 gears of the itr box are shorter but the last 2 are from the gsr box and the shorter fd is what makes the top speed and xxxxrpm/xxmphthe same as b16b box. however a 4.7fd in a b16b box will be much faster than a standard itr box with a 4.7.

I stand corrected :)

A shorter 2nd and 3rd gear will be very desirable. 2nd and 3rd is really a tad long in the 4.4.

i don't know personally, i know one mechanic and he wouldn't switch the cranks himself. he said send it off to be done where they know what tey're doin. would it honestly run normally off a ctr ecu??????????

try ollie burke in galway he'll sort you out no problem its only a 3hr drive an he'll def have one...he's better than any honda garage....give him a ring his number is 0868473223...i think he charges bout 3000e for a b18c wit everythin u need to fit it gearbox fuel pump wirin loom drive shafts hubs brakes etc

where would i say i got the number?? r they alright or are they bogey??
