HI guys, hust wanted a little info for my ek4, was thinking of buying a b18c6 with the s80 gearbox and putting in sum buddyclub spec 3 cams and some throttle bodies, im not looking for massive numbers this is just my gonna be a daily driver with a bit of power and throttle response. not sure what throttle bodies to get (individual throttle bodies) but just need to be clear what i need:

what ecu?
will the internals be ok with the new cams?
do i need cam gears or just the camshafts?
what individual throttle bodies would any1 recommend?
anything else i may need?

thanks

forgot to add, i looked up on ebay and was quoted £3000 for a b18c6 with 74k on the clock as well as the s80 gearbox and all fitted with loom etc (no ecu inclded), could any1 tell me if this is a good price?

£3k is expensive!

If it is your daily then don't fit ITBs, people have a misconception that ITBs will allow you to make heaps of power, on B series hondas they don't. The standard intake reads atmospheric pressure at WOT so is extremely efficient as it is! ITBs aren't nice for cold start and partial throttle driving. Don't get me wrong, there are good midrange gains to be made, if tuned right of course............

If you want to run the cams properly:

-cams
-cam gears
-uprated valvesprings/retainers
-raise the compression a bit (skim the head or thinner head gasket)
-if you've got the head off you will be best checking valve guides for wear, replacing stem seals, new cambelt/tensioner/water pump/new head bolts
-obviously intake/header/exhaust will help the new setup

As for ECU it depends what your tuner uses and how deep your pockets are

It's not cheap to do it proper!

so would u suggest an upgraded intake or just the standard one off the b18? and as for the ecu, without sounding cheap i just want like sumthing that would be able to run the cams safley and smoothly. and what sort of price would i be looking at for the engine, gearbox and all fitted to my car (ek4)?

also with just cams and ecu would i be looking to up the rev limit at all? if so do i need to alter the compression etc?

Excellent info from Steven and I would strongly advise you follow his advise!

Also I would steer well clear of engines on Ebay, best to wait on a reputable member on here that is selling! that way you have more of an idea of what you are actually buying.
Speak to your tuner about what ECU he uses, compression ratio's and rev limits!

Good luck

kk, just to clear up, 1998b18c6 lump, s80 gearbox 4.7 final drive, p72 ecu (or w/e the teg ecu is) been told by a few peeps the intake is fine as it is, just want cams but still gonna be a daily runner, looking for 210-220 bhp, nothing too big, can any1 reccomend a good brand as a friend of mine told me to get toda cams, when i looked at their vetc killer cams in the description it specifically said not for everday car use, just track. i plan on getting the lump remapped after the cams are on there just to get it on half decent power.
any thoughts on the stage 2 brian crower cams? and ofc the gears, retainer etc, comes out at about 850ish £££ before adding tax and stuff as their from the US. heres the link:

BrianCrower.com | RunBC.com // Honda // B16A / B18C

remeber just a daily runner! not track!
