Hi there, recently picked up a b18c4 with 50k on the clock and have a turbo kit with a garrett t28, will the stock engine be okay with just arp head studs, new oil and water pumps, gaskets etc? or should i rebuild it, and if so what parts(head/bottom end or both) ?

I am hoping to get henry roy to tune it , and was told by a few people that the turbo will take 280-300 hp, is this about right?

thanks in advance for any help!
Dan

Engine will be fine stock if its not a nail, mines ran 340bhp completely bognstock, not evan arp hardware, for 9 months without drama. Turbo should make 300bhp happily enough. Where in the country you based??

using a T28 (gti-r) on a b18 will cause high intake temps as the top of the rev range.

short burst should be ok but any kind of long foot down run wont help

^^^ This :nice: As said they seem to sit happily at 300bhp all day on stock internals. Tuning is key, if it is tuned correctly it will be sweet

This, also keep boost levels sensible.

this sounds great but.. i would want a turbo build to last more than 9 months.. What happened...

Good shout joe. didn't think of that. Just curious as i always see people chatting about Standard engines running 280+ Hp... i just wonder for how long.. i know its all about the tune but i'm still curious.

I'd just hate to do it and then see it blow up, it seems to easy to simply bolt it on and tune it.. maybe it is, i don't know...

my b16a2 on standard internals, with a precision T3/4 hybrid on hondata s300 has lasted about 3 years now? b16a2 at 7psi pushing 280

:nice:i run my stock d15b for 6 years with greddy turbo kit and cover 130k km with no prpblem at all.:drive:

Hahaha i can see how it looked bad now ive read it back haha. Its still going strong now with not one issue at all tbh.

My D15B7 in my EJ2 ran on stock internals with a Garrett T25 from a Nissan S13 since 2007 and blew up a month ago. It was boosting at 8psi, producing 216.7bhp.
If built and mapped with care, a turbo'd Honda can be as reliable as N/A.

If you want more information regarding turbo Hondas, Will at RDT is the man to ask. He can map it for you and he'll look after you. Take my word for it.
