B18c4 starter motor problems!

Okay so me and a mate have done an engine swap. It's a B18c4 in an EK9 1998 pre. Engine runs fine when bumped but when it is started by the key. Starter just clicks, any ideas what this could be. Fuel pump primes so it isn't this!? Any ideas!? Thanks in advance
 
We have also tried 2 different starter motors. And they both worked previously. And battery is fully charged
 
I think I've got a similar problem, after I put a b18c4 in my pre ek9 the engine runs well once its on but it takes a few clicks to get it going. The battery is brand new and the fuel pump primes and everything clicks over but it never starts first time. Does your one starts at all or do you always have to use jump start?

Well it's just been put in but won't start by key. Only when pushed and jumped that it will, one done runs a dream!

Anyone got any more ideas. It's the only thing left to sort! So annoying!

Well I'm trying to work out the same problem with mine, if there's any progress I'll let you know. :nice:
 
Does the starter not crank? As you said it clicks so it sounds like the starter solnoids working when turning key, have you tried a jump lead on the positive connection on starter from battery direct? And poss jump lead on to engine to battery negative, then try cranking then you would know if your main leads are good.
