Picked up a new family run around on sat.

Its a 1.8 Vti civic with 54,000 on the clock and it has been serviced every 6 months at honda + the yearly checks so its mechanically in great condition.
Plus it only cost me £1900 or $2850 for u guys accross the pond.

The bodywork is great for a 10 year old car only a small blemish on each mirror so im dead chuffed with that !

Il put some more pics up tommorw but il get the inportant ones up today.

I plan on leaving the looks how the are except for some wheels the engine is where i realy want to make the inprovements. Hopefully il get a dyno session soon ( money tight at christmas ) and if anyone knows of any close to southampton id love to know cheers. Il prob stat with an intake and complete exhaust, then CTR/ITR cams and springs etc and a new ecu think it should be good for 190bhp at the fly then maybe more. Im happy with 200Bhp at the fly as this is just the family run around and i want to save money for the nine once i get her.

As familly came first i had to get this beast to carry all the stuff that kids intail. Il get my nine next year as my dedicated track day car.

il prob be doing the Nurburgring in this beast as i wont have the nine by then i doubt but you never know.

Anyway i have to give the bay a deep clean before im happy but its ok under there atm no flaking on the rocker cover etc heres some pics of the bay before. My last week at work this week so il get the deep clean session started soon.

Watch this space will take me a few months but it will be worth it.

Ow yer one last thing it was an old guy who owned it and its completly standard even the battery is honda this guy spent alot keeping it in good shape which is great for me :)

Il get some up tommorow the reason it was so cheap is coz of the recesion cars are not selling atm in England. Dealerships are selling one a week if that so i knocked him down from 2500 to 1900 for cash and he accepted :)

You can pick an ek9 up for 5000 + now at the start of the year it would have been 6500 min really.

Yeah, it's crazy how the prices for cars have dropped over here!! good for new buyers though!

Ben, I'm interested in the technique you're gonna use to give the bay a 'deep clean' - you up for doing a little write up when you're done mate?

...and nice find!!

Yer il list what products and techniques i use to get the sparkle back. Also il be painting a few brackets etc to make them look more presentable il take a few pics of before and after. In all honesty the key to a clean engine bay is elbow grease there arnt many shortcuts i know. :)

Would be much appreciated Ben - Not after shortcuts, always up for a bit of elbow grease!! Just good to have technique first so all that effort dont go to waste!!

Exterior pics as requested :)

To be honest i havent had a chance to give it a proper clean yet and its a bit dirty from the 100 mile drive to get her home.

Gonna give it a proper clean over the weekend il pop some more pics up then.

Yeah, that was a few months ago before she went through her first english winter!!

The aluminium of the block is one of the things i am actually most interested in cleaning and keeping clean - since all the salt on the roads there seems to be a heavy white deposit left speckled all over it. Also interested in any techniques to get in those little nooks and crannies and keep hoses looking good, etc, etc

Think it would make a good thread, I was tryna get jugbugz to do a similar one a while back - have you ever seen how clean his engine bay is!??

Anyways, nice one Ben..

i never seen a car like that, i wish we had that in USA :D

It was a UK Rover/Honda joint effort. Rover 400 and MG ZS share the same chassis.

I used to have one, gearbox isn't great. You can't change from 2nd to 3rd and stay in VTEC, a popular mod to fix this was an Integra-R gearbox.
