hi all
im removing my engine out of my ek9 very soon and am planning on replacing the block with an integra block and replacing a few parts

this is the plan i have in mind...

my b16b head
my b16b gearbox
integra block..hopefully out of a jdm model with ek9 pistons (as suggested)
integra ecu
uprated clutch
lighter flywheel
skim head for abit more compression(as suggested)
integra exhaust manifold...for time being

i am planning on starting this very soon so i do have a few questions to ask?
help will be great.

1) will the block be a straight like for like swap? size etc

2) will i have to change any of the loom for the block?

3) will i have to change any of the loom for the ecu?

4) am i ok to use my b16b gearbox?

5) is it true that i will be better off using ek9 b16b pistons?

6) when i get my clutch and flywheel do i get it for a ek9 or an integra?

7) what sort of performance/bhp will i roughly be looking at? (i know it maybe hard to guess but i dont know of any1 who has done this to ask there gains)

sorry for all the questions. saves starting little threads for the same topic

the b16b engine uses the b18 block but its just destroked. why not just stroke it????

with ctr pistons youll have very large compression and risk detonation.itr pistons be safer,no point in mad compression unless your going manegement and crazy cams.

it will work out cheaper, and i wont mind one off a jdm. as i presume they are better?!
this is why im asking the questions.

that answers one question, cheers mate. think ill stick to the integra pistons and take the safer route.:nice:

Why not just sell the B16b complete and buy a complete B18c? Would save the hassle of splitting engines. Then all you will need is a Teg ECU with harness adapter.

as i have heard that the camshaft on the b16b is alot more agressive then any other b series, so if i pair this with the integra block i should get good results.
:nice:

wont i have to change things like the loom and the drive shafts etc??
i just wont mind havin something abit different to just a complete b18 swap.

cheers

1. yes the block is a straight swap

2. no

3.no

4.yes but if it was me i would upgrade the final drive (mfactory)

5.It could be a cool idea i would recommend a good engine management system, a nice set of cams and valve train to go with the pistons :nice:.

6.both

7.all down to the dyno, my high comp b18c makes 216 bhp, ime goin to put a wright up on it soon look out for it. :nice:

If it is a facelift EK9 you have then yeah the wiring is a little different

The EK9 cams are not THAT much wilder, just a few degrees more duration on the intake cam but they are still the same lift as the ITR ones

Driveshafts are exactly the same for all civics/integras from 92-00 running B series engine (32mm spline) just the 98 spec JDM that is different (36mm iirc) as the hubs on them are a touch different

Your gearbox will be fine seeing as it is the same box used on 96 specs (integra PCD for the diff is different but same ratios etc and it will mate up to the block fine)

Removing the B16B and buying a complete B18C (B18C is the jdm model, B18C6 is the UK model) is your best option, the JDM ecu is much better than a UK integra ECU, difference is noticable when driving, mate has a UK dc2 with breathing mods and says the JDM ecu made it feel alot sharper and more responsive

5) is it true that i will be better off using ek9 b16b pistons?

You'll be better if you can't feed the car with high octane fuel (and get a good set of cams, retainers, springs) since you'll raise your compression to approximately to 12.5+ :nerv:
