B16B - B18C Comparison Graph!

Not really mate, a car can easily lose 10 horsepower in its 10 years of ownership

Remember dyno-dynamics use a database of 'drivetrain-losses' to calculate engine hp. You can get the operator to show measured wheel hp instead if you wanted.. which is more quantifiable. IMO :nice:

Cheers for that Will, i didnt know that but i will make sure he does this for me next time im there!:nice:

Nice gain over the rev range.

What did the conversion cost you in total?

woow great figures mate..

I have a B16B and B18C ( Type R JDM ) and both of them ran the same power on the dyno with same modification?!?! I ran 176whp on both engines.

I believe that proves the point i was trying to make in the other thread.

theres a improvement alright but is it worth selling my b16b block and what not?

There's no reason you can't get 175whp with B16b with the right mods, you don't NEED a B18c to do those figures, although the extra torque helps a bit when you "need" it :D

1800 pounds for the conversion? That sounds steep, but I guess over there you pay the going rates for the engine? Did that include gearbox? I take it you sold up your B16b to finance it?

Just curious, because in New Zealand you could get a JDM 98 spec ITR engine and box for around half that...

This is very true as my ek9 with only a dc 4-1 manifold made 170whp on the same dyno my old dc2 made 175whp. The dc2 was a healthy car with breathing mods and a chipped ecu, also ran a 14.1 sec 1/4 mile.

What I also dont understand is how the power curves both seem to end at 8300rpm on the posted graph. If I remember my graph I think that my b16b made its peak bhp figure at about 8700rpm and the dc2 was about 8900rpm as it was mapped to rev to 9200rpm
