alright guys, i did my homework and have read **** loads of threads on here and yes i know the cr is too high, and the b16b is not a great engine to turbo or supercharge.

question is i might be buying a TD04H-15G and im looking at about 200-230whp tops, i know the turbo is a really good for a stock engine but what do you guys think? how long will my pistons last with that much hp as a DD. I am obd2a right now will be going obd1 and i will be getting it tuned with a hondata or crome?

opinion?

Thanks guys

There is no way to guess how long your engine will last, too many factors involved including what the current condition of your engine is now which is 100% unknown since they are all second hand used from Japan and god only knows what they have been through. Assuming its in a good shape thats a modest power goal and it should last, but again, it depends on so many factors like the tune, maintenance, driving style, etc...

it should produce good boost response if done correctly.

like blinx said, too many factors to answer how long.

depending on your tuner, and where he is most at home at. but crome will be easier on the pocket

yea but guys running a turbo on a high compression engine like a B16B isnt that a NO????
Will a good map make it ok to run it?

but guys running a turbo have generally reduced the compression. its probably not a stock b16b engine.

It can be done, but as Blinx and Chicas said, theres no way of telling how long it would last.

Having said that, shift o n here has been running a stock b16b with a turbo setup daily for quite some time. But he has a thicker head gasket.
There were a couple of other dudes on the civiclife forum who have turbo'ed stock b16bs realibly too.

Heres a stock b16b turbo from hondatech

yes blinx has said that cars can be run on 11+comp for race spec but thats race spec. the chances are its a general build.

as long as the tuner knows what he is doing, and the owner knows how to maintain it properly, then there should be no worries.

You can run a turbo on a 12+ compression engine even, but you will be limited to how much boost you can run based on the fuel you use. There is a point when it becomes pointless unless you have access to high octane fuel at a reasonable price. Keep in mind: boost is intercooled, compression is not. Why not lower the compression and run more boost? You will make more power and safer.
