Hello and Happy New New Year I have a Honda civic ej9 hatchback 98 I want to change my engine with a B16a2 i have find the motor I want to know what other conversion must can to put this engine... :please: help me...

thank you

I didnt understand the last bit of that mate.Do u want to no what all ull need to do the conversion?

Are you trying to ask what other parts do you need for this conversion?

Ok first off you need to match the B series engine to a B series gearbox i.e y21/s4c etc. your D series EJ9 gearbox cannot be reused and also will need a set of B series driveshafts with 32mm outer cv joint.

Other bits you need,
All B series mount brackets (cambelt side, gearbox side, rear L bracket, front lower torque mount brackets)
You can reuse your ej9 mounts if there in good condition.
Shift linkage.
B series radiator + piping if not included with B series engine.
Engine wiring loom + ecu

All new fluids, coolant, gearbox oil, engine oil etc. It would be a good time to change the timing belt also unless you know exactly when it was last done on engine.

thank for your answer. I have all this item but i want to know about the ecu loom I have heard something for the obd converter or something else I am not sure...

Did the engine come from a EK civic? Was it prefacelift(96-98) or facelift(99-00) and was engine wiring loom included?

my honda is 96-98 pre facelift and the engine b16a2 is from eg6 93 the engine loom include but not alla only the loom in engine (not for ecu loom)

sorry for my English

You will need to get a obd2a vti/sir loom as the eg engine loom(obd1) is not compatible.

I have found a loom from 2000 Civic Si, VTEC could you tell me if this fit for b16a2 I use P30 ecu for conversion

No, that if facelift obd2b. You need wiring loom from 96-96 civic with b16.

ma mate has this loom your after his looking £225 for it..let me no if u interested

I have just swapped a b16b from a type r jr 2000 into my '93 civic hatch eg6 that was having a good b16a.

I wish I never decided to swap. First Im still runing the new engine on my old obd1 ecu.
because i ordered wrong conversion.
my loom altenator plug is rond, the b16b is square
So i had to use my old altenator.
powersteering conection is diferent, distributor need a conversion also, so im running my old b16a distributor.

The manifold from the b16b ending with a 2.5" outlet do not reach my exhuast.
I had to use my old manifold.

Injectors plugs are not the same, I needed to buy other plugs to change the connection.

Its a headage
