So finally... I've got myself an EK9.

After missing out on a complete minter last year my circumstances changed and I've treated myself.

Now about the car as per title it's the facelift Rx version which has a few subtle differences over the regular 9's but is the most desirable one to have.

It's completely standard apart from a set of BC coilovers which are o..k.. but i'll be looking to change these out eventually.

Plans really are;

Continue to maintain it well as the previous owners have kept every receipt and the car is very well documented.

16" Enkei RPF1's in White.
Decent exhaust setup (undecided but want it subtle).
Nardi steering wheel.
'Spoon elbow' intake.
Upgrade the brakes to ferodo ds2500's.
A new set of coilovers undecided again.

All in good time a few little bits & bobs inbetween and to sort out the niggles. I want the car to have more functional mod's then the usual JDM BRO s**te thats on civiclife and such.

Anyway a few half arsed photo's;

I've done some digging and found the previous owner Alex's project thread which may be worth a read if your bored;

Also a little review after having the car just over a fortnight now. Bearing in mind I've come from previously owning 4 clio sports in different forms.

To drive it's a completely different feeling through the steering wheel compared to the 182's or in fact any other car I've driven before. You have more of a sense of feeling of what's going with the car on the road which is a joy, driver input feels more visceral and direct.

The facelift EK9's have quite minimal sound deadening as standard and driving on a wet road felt odd initially as of the increase of road noise. Kind of sounds like you have left a window open and you can hear the wet road through the arches.

On a dry road the addition of an LSD makes a world of difference compared to the clio's. You can 'attack' a tight corner similarly to the clio's but you get slung out of it in much better shape. The gearbox being a Honda is great a very positive feel and short throw.

Also being only a 1.6 it's pretty good on fuel if your changing gear at 3k rpm just potting around. Getting the full use of the 9200 rpm rev limit is very rare on the road as a pull in 2nd gear to 9000 rpm then if you continue to do the same in 3rd your going pretty quick to say the least.

To try and sum it up the EK9 compared to the clio is that its a much more raw car to drive with less refinement but more purpose.

Lovely 9 you have there, nice and standard.

9.2krpm ????? Stock limit on a CTR is 8.6k - Tach is most likely off a bit unless its had the limit raised. Peak power is around 8.1k - 8.4k iirc.

It's either been mapped previously or the clock is off. I'd probably say it's been mapped there's a dyno sheet somewhere in my folder of receipts I'm sure :)

Nice nine, sometimes I wish I would have gone with a facelift.

. . . only sometimes . . .

Ahhh was wondering where she'd got to !

I take it your the one that PM'd me about the car :) how are you finding it ?

honestly biggest regret of my life selling this car , but have literally just bought a house because of it! please keep her clean :D

looks in good hands though

p.s you have one of the cleanest 9's on the forum ( not bias ofcourse ) ;)

Hey Alex!

Thanks mate it was me who was pestering you a little while back :)

The car is a real credit to its previous owners such as yourself. It's tucked away in my garage at the moment. It's in good hands don't worry :)

Also I'm finding it really good at the moment it certainly feels like a special car, it's the most involved feeling from any car that I've owned so far. It lives up to all the hype etc and IMO the original is the best and Honda peaked with their little hatchbacks with the ek9.

no worries buddy ! can i ask where abouts you are? interested how far the car has gone :(

also coilover question, not long ago i cleaned and copper greased these all up, still should be easy to move. unless old owner has changed anything.

I also had them set alot lower ( ref my build thread ) and enjoyed the car alot more
