Im thinking about gettting an apexi power fc & controller for my ek9. Has anyone used one on theres? Any info welcome...

I have one on my ek9,
getting it set up on rolling road on thurs!
ill let you know my though's yhen!

Great programmable ecu, but you have to tune it, you should ask your tuner if he can program one, because if not, it's going to be a nightmare for you.

Also, before you buy one, do you know if your ecu is a obd2a ? if your car is a late 98 model + you will need a harness, give me more info so i can help you with this.

Yes its december 98, I'll have to get the conversion harness alright?

You can get some incredible numbers when you properly tune the Power FC with some other goodies and yes, Apexi designed it for the E-EK9 (August 1997) but a minor conversion is needed on the GF-EK9 and that's it :nice:

Conversion = obd2b to obd2a conversion harness :nice:

Sweet! Me gonna save up so! Give me a month or 2 so lol!

have 1 on my ek4 but harder for me as it had base maps for ek9 and itr so tuner got sir base map for me and started from there, very good

How much roughly do the pfc's and commander cost, and how much are the honda ecu's for the ek9?

I wish I could put one of these on my car but unfortunately where I live we dont have the luxury of tuners who can do that. Thats why I want to get a Hondata, pre-programmed. I know someone that got one for their K-20 and it became a totally different creature doing 13.9 in the 1/4 an improvement from the stock 14.6
A rule for me, when you buy an aftermarket ECU for your modified car, you should not rely on the word "pre-programmed". Pre-programmed for whom?? Your car has different behavior and needs even from a similar modified car. You should never put on and run a "pre-programmed" ECU without first tuning it on a dyno to work no more no less than from what is has to work for a specific car.

(apexi has or is going out of business i beleive) so they are becoming harder to get hold of

I was speaking to a guy on another forum before, and he said that the pfc is not good for det.
"the ecu does'nt do anything to compensate when it detonates, it can be tuned out but its not easy and takes many hours on the rollers, and then the temperature changes and the map wont be exactly right and it will detonate, i read the power fc was originaly designed for the rx7 where det isnt the same promblem"

Is there any truth to this?

Totally incorrect, you can detonate even with your stock ecu if you put crappy gas, I know some persons with power fc that had detonated, but it's not because of the ecu is because the raised compression + low octane fuel + un-properly tuned power fc.:nerv:

i have a power fc and commander on my car that is still in japan but was wondering,
when the car is sva'd, i will have to remove the power fc ecu and put the standard one back in,
will the commander need reprogramming when i put it back in after the sva test?,does the ecu store the settings when its removed?

Theres still about 3 left on ebay. Search power fc b16b.

I've since got a Spoon ECU and im very happy with it.
