I'm utterly clueless tbh so bear with me... :please:
I've found the aircon removal thread on here, but it's pretty much blowing my mind with no photos! I have no idea what bits what at all - never had a car with aircon, never had an ek9 before, so im getting stuck. I've had my gas checked, and it's completely empty so I just want to crack on with taking it out :blinx:

-Can anyone give me a quick run down on the removal and explain which bits are which (possibly with photos of whats what?) (AC dryer, condenser, evaporator box etc - not a clue?!)
-Also what are the important things to do/tips to remember when doing this?
-I've found a few threads mentioning bungs for the firewall, plus replacement piping/boxes for in the dash..Can anyone confirm what it is exactly I'll need to completely remove everything?
-I know my battery needs to come off...it's an aftermarket Toad alarm (again, something I've never had) am i right in thinking the alarm needs to put into a certain mode to take it off?
-Also seen a thread saying air flow to engine rad is reduced?! Can someone explain this, I'd assume air flow would be better if anything

pictures of what exactly is what would really be helpful! :pics:

Thanks guys

Re-gas it and drive along in comfort while everyone else is sweating away.
Driving in comfort will be faster than driving along all hot and flustered.
That's my theory anyway...

Have look online some realy good guides about usually.

Be carefull when u pull the pipes off, even when you have pulled the gass out with the machine it can be quite violent.

Above post makes sense though, regret removing mine now i want to sell on haha

Grab a hack saw, saw through one of the pipes & run away.
Come back about 10 minutes later & just unbolt the rest of it & throw in the wheelie bin.

You probably do more damage to the "environment" by killing 10,000 wasps in the summer with your front bumper.

As above, I stuck a screwdriver in the valve and held my face out the way.
Not really noticeable amount of weight saved but any amount is a good amount.

AC gas is nasty stuff and can damage your paintwork if it dries onto it. I wouldnt be cutting any of the pipes as there is no need. If you dont want to pay to have it de-gased then there is a 10 bolt on the top of the AC rad undo that wiggle the pipe and leg it! Be sure to cover your engine bay up first as said previous that gas is nasty stuff and do in a well ventilated area. the pipework and the pump can all be unbolted easily its just the condenser in the dash that difficult, but most just leave it in there.

Do the exact opposite to this and I think you will be fine. If its possible to get the system emptied properly then I would say do it. Refrigerant is nasty stuff, to the environment, your car and yourself, so if you do do it make sure not to inhale any. After this its pretty easy, theres the condenser (next to the radiator), the pump which mounted to the bottom of the block and the lines that run to the fire wall. As said most people leave the dash bit alone, can get a bit fiddly!

If you take afew pictures if the parts people here will name them for you.

Please don't be an idiot and hacksaw the pipe. Possibly the worst advice I've seen yet.

You may not care about the enviroment, but refrigerant can be at pressures of 20bar.

Aside from possibly blowing debris into your eye you also risk refrigerant burns which can also cause frost bite. Let a garage recover the gas out of the system. If you happen to get caught releasing it to atmosphere it's a garunteed jail sentence.
I deal with this stuff on a daily basis and it can be nasty stuff.
