I've been searching everywhere but have not been able to find any crank trigger kits for the B series engine but haven't been able to find anything.
Does anyone know of any?

Please explain what you are planning and i might be able to help.

we used one of these on a vw 16v jenvey / DTA conversion, worked very well hopefully there is something similar for hondas,

just heated the trigger ring up with the gas and it shrunk onto the pulley, a perfect inteference type fit

having a bit of a dig about online so far found,

a few options listed here too, quite an informative thread,

Try T1 race development, i'm sure they'll have something for you.

Thanks for your replies
@Olly - nicely done trigger gear there, was that a triggerwheels.co.uk wheel you used? Fabricating one is not out of the question, I have a mate who does things like this:

But he does it for a living and doesnt have a very good work rate even when a cash incentive is used!

@Rich77 - T1 Race development do some nice stuff, their cam sensor is nice! T1 Cam Trigger Kit B Series I could use something like that for when I need to go fully sequential. It should be possible to create something like that with a Honeywell Hall sensor and a modified washer on the cam bolt.

@Championship White - I used to do engine management systems but now have kind of stopped (spent too long working on other people's projects never having time to work on mine) I have a couple of aftermarket management systems knocking about, one Budget one expensive, I'd quite like to run my new B16B on one or either of them.
I am pretty sure (as I posted on your Thoughts on this Problem thread) that the distributor timing is prone to jitter due to the rubber camshaft drive.
Plus I like getting engines running on standalones, it's sad but true.

I'm planning to convert all the sensors and injectors to Bosch, run a 36-1 trigger, Bosch motorsport wasted spark coil pack.

we purchased the setup from eurospeed in the states,

Arrrrr... I see, sounds cool anyway. Keep us up to date on your progress. I'm really intrested.

No, these are two ECUs that I've been involved with so I am not going to mention names as I'm not on here to trade.

2 brains are better than one? Very interesting project it seems.

Sorry I wasn't being clear I am going to try one or the other ECU, not both!
Probably get the engine up and running on the one I know best, then swap over to the expensive one.
For a purely academic assessment of what makes one system better than the other.

Yes but not specifically for the B Series from what I can see, it looks like its time to crack the bribes out for my machinist mate!

Well some good things, some bad.
First the good - I happened to have a Ford 36-1 trigger wheel from a Granada, which has an internal diameter (ID) roughly 2mm less than the ID of the crank pulley:

So all I need to do is clean the inside of the damper and machine a hub to press fit into the damper and press fit the trigger wheel.

There are plenty of places to bolt a sensor bracket to at the front of the engine.

The bad news is that the rubber in the damper has cracked - so I will probably have to get something better, ATI put threaded holes in the front of their dampers which will make mounting the thing even more simple.

Another thing I've found is that the water temperature sensor from the Fiat Punto 1.4 and 1.6 i.e has the same size thread as the one in the B16 (M18x1.5) this is handy as it uses a standard Junior timer plug, which helps make building a custom loom much easier.

Nice Bob :nice:

I'm running a ATI street damper on my car. Do you want me to measure anything for you ?

Thanks for the offer Rich, It would be best to measure the thing when I have it, well the truth is I'll be getting the machinist to measure it. What would be helpful would be if you could point me towards a picture of the model you use.

Cheers

Rob

If you go on Laskey racings store, look under external components and click on Harmonic Balancers you will see a picture of it. Its the exact same damper as i have.

Sorry i can't post a link up as i'm using the internet on my phone.

Rich

I decided to buy myself an N1 pulley, its short length and wide face suggests that I will have an easier time mounting both the trigger and the sensor.
The pulley should be with me before the end of the month.
More news as it happens...
