can anyone confirm that AEM V2 is the best cold air kit.

...the "best"?
I would say Mugen or IceBox from CT

V2 is very good too...but I would prefer an enclosed area for the filter to better calm air turbulence from the wheel arch area.

although tegiwa whale intake makes me *** wee.....

looking for pure performance not noise.

Theres really no real answer to best? But as mentioned above mugen and other inclosed intake systems are what I would go for. A dc2 airbox with a cold air feed and the resonator removed is also a very good set up

really mugen is the one than.

anyone selling mugen kit?

" best cold air kit "

yes the AEM V2 is the coldest air kit.. it is very cold....

Comptech ice box,
Mugen air box,
Tegiwa air box,
DC2 with cold air feed,
maxogen cold air box,
ITG cold air box,
AEM V2,
AEM V1,

these are all very cold pieces of kit..

as above, i personally have always had v2 and seen good figures there will always be ongoing debate about whats best and this subject comes up fairly regular id go for something you feel is best after doing a bit of research

what is it like on yours?

what is it like on yours?
its a pipe with about 60 mm diamter that locates the air filter into the front right corner of the engine bay...

dude, please understand that there is no such thing as the best intake... what works for some doesn't for others.. it depends on :

Your budget, where you are in the world and the climate/weather,if the car mapped, is it a daily driver ... etc etc...

You are only going for intake loudness? thats funny but reality too...if you are only after noise, get a short intake with a cone filter, the closer to the TB you can get the louder it will become.

I have tried the carbon "whale willie" and that was extreamly loud, so loud I had to take it off. Try that and I am sure you will be happy with the extra noise.

i didnt notice much difference between, using my OEM ek9 intake with cold air feed and spoon kevlar elbow, compared to the tegiwa whale *****. so just sold the whale ***** off. i think its abit better with throttle response with the oem set up

do some research, it has been posted many many times before to answer your question. alot of lads on here use oem dc2 or ek9 air boxes with a cold air feed. It has also been said that a custom intake will benefit you most. A custom diameter (2.5" 3") intake with a cold air feed will you notice your most gains. Also pending on what you do with the car, daily driver, track, drag, etc etc... A good tune also has to do alot with it, if you think you can just slap on an intake and get the best performance from it, sorry to say your wrong. Tuning is very vital with bolt ons and further in the build process. But all in all its up to you with what you want to do with your car. Hope this helps you a bit.

coudnt have put it better :nice:

ive bought and tried many intakes including aem v1, comptech icebox, mugen oem dc2 airbox etc and seen a mugen dyno tested and make 1-2bhp over a oem intake after mapping

a custom intake designed for your build/setup is best and needs mapping

also i meant to throw this in my reply but forgot so here it is now...

http://www.ek9.org/forum/air-intake...ntake-thread-intake-really-best-i-answer.html

finding this sticky took me .000000001 second to find, very top sticky of this thread section. Please alot of us lads encourage research before posting new threads to help minimize repeating thread topics, when the information has already been "brought to light..." Hope this helps you with your question lad. :nice:

AEM no longer manufactures the V2. Its now called the Dual Chambered Intake and its on permanent back order. Its not CARB legal. So if you are in the US, your pretty much screwed! I used to have one, the cops made me take it off. It gave about 5hp increase in the mid-range.

Also, if you have a B16, get the one for the Civic SI. For B18 get the one for Integra GSR. They don't make any for Type R.
