Ok so, in the Ek9 I have one of the tegiwa carbon jobbys. sounds epic, like mad cool however, i have the opportunity to get an AEM.. off a vti in exchange for my tegiwa induction.

Now im confused as ive seen two types with the AEM.. one's cone goes right into the wheel arch/ corner where the original air box system was.. the other im pretty sure doesnt go in the arch but between the block and the arch

is there a major difference between the two, any advice would be awesome?

search bar well meh. so yeh help please, i will find a pic of the AEM thats fitted on the VTI if that helps. love you all

UPDATE.

this is the induction in question...

thats a aem v2 the filter is low to suck cold air from bottom as hot air rises , good induction kit but you could have trouble going through puddles and stuff, wouldnt know much but sure someone with better knowledge should give advice on here

so its the V2, thats a start haha :)

yeh well my car's pretty low and i avoid puddles like the plague..

im sure you can buy hydro shield to protect them from water but not sure if there any use mate, induction kit looks great in engine bay though

yep thats what im thinking + it will be better than my tegiwa cold air wise!

I have one of these - sound awesome and don't suffer with heat soak - best of both worlds. As above, just avoid any deep puddles!

Buy a Hydro shield, I destroyed an engine with one of those puddlesuckers.

Car performed better with an OE EK9 airbox anyway, just didn't sound as loud.

I had one of these on my old coupe and found when it rained alot (which it always is in Wales) even surface water on the road the filter would be getting wet, a few times I had it suck up water and power would bog down.

Just going to make an enclosure for my tegiwa carbon induction now lol. A heat shield kinda thing . Like this !!

Ive had the V2 on my 9 for a year now with a hydro shield fitted never had any problems with water even when we had the heavy rain, must say the carbon enclosure looks good tho nicely made.

Alex, seen some dyno data showing the j's racing made 3.2bhp and the puddle sucker made 2.9bhp but aggreed it looks so much better in the bay

Forked out for one of these brand new from the states (v2) Found that it created a few flat spots and made the engine feel a bit lacking up top end.

Removed the baffles out of my OE EG6 air box and fitted it back on with KnN panel and it was much better throughout. Quieter but much smoother and harder pull to the redline.

Heat shield box looks like a cool option.
