I have a honda civic hatch LEV that came rear drum.

I converted the system to DC2 97 front and rear disc brakes, also changing the master and booster with a 1".

The question is do i need to swap the proportioning valve to a EK9 or EK4? my car has ABS. All i can see going to the valve is 2 hard lines from the ABS pump and 2 coming out heading to the rear of the car.

In addition I had someone depressed the brake peddle and using a power handle I could not get the front wheels to turn but i can get the rear wheels to. I was shocked. The car was turn on simulating real driving conditions.

Yes you do need the right valve. Discs need more (a lot more) pressure to output the same force as drums, so a drum prop valve will be rendering the rear brakes effectively useless, as you've just found out.

An EK9/EK4 valve would be better, but an adjustable one would be the best by a long shot.

Is it the same for ABS equipped cars? I only have the rear lines coming from the valve on the firewall. The front lines come directly from the ABS pump.

You will need a valve from an ABS car, yes.

The non ABS ones will split front and rears, so they have 6 ports.

Ok. thanks for the reply. Now how do i tell if it is from a EK9/EK4? By the part number?

It is so hard to get a ABS EK9 valve to buy. And i know the none ABS cannot work because it has 6 lines on it.

I dont know why I was not living in the UK so I can just get a real R for everyday.

When doing a rear disc conversion on ABS drum brake Honda civic, you need the proportion valve part number 46210-s04-852.
A link to the part online:

On local Honda civic 97-98 SiR it has a H at the end, and on 99-00 SiR it has a L at the end. On the drum cars it will most likely have G at the end. Thats what mine had anyways.

The drum brake valve sends only 30% to the rear and the disc sends 40%.

Here is a read up on it:
