can anyone give an explaination on the advantage or disadvantage by using the oversize TB ( 70mm ) instead of stock ITR TB with the stock engine ? Is there any improvement to the engine respond or not ?? How about the pick up ? I ride ej7 with stock ITR 96 and do not use any modification yet on the engine. Already have plan to rebuild the engine....hehehe...please explain me on that course..

Depending on what combination of modifications you have.

You can install a 70mm throttle body, and you'll feel your engine more "responsive at the pedal" but.... the engine only flows as much air as the head, intake, exhaust and camshaft and after ecu combination permits.

In my experience I've only seen 70mm throttle body on fully modded B20 motors, for example with TODA C cams or Skunk 2 Stage 3 Cams.

On a stock engine this mod in my opinion will be useless, specially the 70mm throttle body, With Toda B and Skunk 2 Stage 2 cams, the bigger throttle body I've seen installed is from 64 to 66 mm, custom bored.

I have little experience in forced induction setups, I recommend you to wait for blinx9900 reply since he is the forced induction guru :)

hi hi hi, as RVM has already covered most of the points there is actually not anything left to say, however i see this is posted in the FI section so is this question directed at an FI setup? If so it depends on how much power your after, most people wanting 250-350whp will be fine on the standard 60mm TB and would be better spending there money on other things like a good tune or fuel setup etc...

With an FI setup the turbo is pushing air into the motor so TB size is not as important unless the size becomes a restriction but believe me 60mm can flow plenty. My car made 333whp with a standard 60mm TB, i now have a 68mm but only because it was given to me for free, i would have never spent money on one as my setup does not warrent one.

However if your after 450+whp There absolutely are gains to be had with a larger TB.

so on not very mod. n/a engines you dont think there is reason to put biger tb?

Sorry I'm having a hard time understanding your question.

This thread has been posted in the forced induction section, everything i stated was done so under the assumption that this is a forced induction topic.

If you have a question about naturally aspirated engines your in the wrong section of the forum ;)

Thanks for all the advice and opinions...but how about on N/A which is on stock B18cr engine. My friend already used it on his B16a engine and fully loaded with type r parts. He use 70mm TB and and his compression goes to 11 bar. Responsive was very good from low to high end than the previous TB ITR stock. Now he is smiling with 170 whp on his B16a ( dynamic dyno ).

Sorry not in the mood to discuss NA performance, perhaps you should post in the NA section where you will get more info as most users here are NA.
