4.7 s4c too short for 270hp turbo b16b?

I run a hondata s300 ecu good piece of kit. Boost by gears helps so much, I only run 8psi in 1st then 12psi in 2nd then full boost in 3rd and through the rest of the gears. Im currently running rota slips on the front, but im looking to change as 225 is the max width you can run on a 7" wide wheel

You got a pic of how a 225 looks on a 7j wheel? I've got some 7j I use as track wheels and if they fit without huge bulge that's me sorted!

Im sorry but im offshore working just now, so dont have my phone on me which has all my pics. I can easy send you a pic when i get back home though :) I used to run the 215/50/15 r888s but now switched to 225/45/15.The sidewalls on the 215/50/15 were huge! Im really impressed with the difference in grip with change to the 225/45/15

Ive put my box back to std. my 4.7 was a pain and I only use the car to drive to the track and for fun..

Mines only fun car too. Got the car today, has a kazz LSD with the 4.7fd. This is why I want to make it work, don't have to to find a stock box and swap the LSD's over.

Yeah see that's quite a jump from 270 so I should be okay with traction. Time will tell

Getting close to finding out this question! Mapping being booked up for the 27th, I have an apexi avcr which boosts by gear so I'll get traction ok. It's the top speed now, at the Nurburgring last year I was on the limiter in 5th(140mph) in a 4.9fd s4c. That's with 200hp b18 lol so I should rocket up to top speed with around 270hp.

If I was you I would change the gearbox to s9b LSD box

slightly longer ratio and best for boost

I wouldnt, ratios are way to long for what he is using the car for.
They are best for serious power boosted builds.

Top speed for a civic with 270hp has got to be around 155-160mph? Only other option for me is either s80 or back to 4.4 s4c.
Don't want to kill the performance of the higher gears too much my over gearing it.

My car could easily hit them speeds, but i dont need to go that fast. My box limits me to 155 in theory. Ive never tried.

How often will you be up towards the top of 5th? Only when you go to the ring? You might aswell choose the box that will suit the tracks your on here, as that is where the car will be most of the time.

Not really dude I had it running on my high comp b18 and was perfect, s80 felt way too close and I replaced it with a s9b, I also know of a lad running s9b on his high comp b20

Same with my forged b18 turbo runing 365@ 8psi which was perfect again

Ratio's on the s9b ain't that long what people make them out to be

I've only got my old ek9 to go by but brands I was only seeing about 120mph.
It's the ring that has me bouncing off the limiter due to the hills and long straights. You are probably right about gearing the car for uk tracks instead of a once a year trip. I'll probably find this box perfect on home tracks tbh.

I've got the 4.4 S4C and it feels damn snappy... :)

Will see what its like on the track (should be awesome on tight twisty ones with boost by gear).

If its bad i'm going to add a 4.0 M Farcotry FD

You've got the same issue as me but obviously have a lot more power. Extra 110hp lol 4.4 would probably be perfect for me tbh, but I can't be arsed to pull the box off and rip the diff out etc

I use such fd with similar bhp and it works perfect. Nothing is wrong. All I would do (depending on track and conditions) I would shorten 4 and 5 gear even more.

Looking here,

I would go for the 4.4 s4c, its pretty close to what i have and i find it great for Knockhill and the tight sprints and hillclimbs here.
FWIW at knockhill im at the top of 4th on the main straight, so closing in on 120mph
Aslong as the setup you are running has enough mid range torque i reckon you will be happy:nice:

Just checked out the calculator,
If I can get an 8800 rpm rev limit with 215/50/15 tyres I can come pretty close to 4.4fd top speed in everygear on stock 8600rpm with the 195/50's that I'd usually run.
I don't see the top speed being a problem with the above changes.
