It's the isocyanates which are the most dangerous part, they can cause paraylsis of the lungs and you become sensitised to it so a small does next time can cause the same damage as a larger dose.
The cost of a set-up is £300'ish for a suitable compressor, probably more, as the mask requires a constant amount of air the duty cycle has to be very good so even if it is 3hp etc. it has to flow the cfm constantly and many of the cheaper compressors have poor duty cycles. It then has to be filtered and the filtering system is roughly £150, and the mask itself is roughly £150. It then has to be placed away from any fumes.
For spot repairs you are fine priming with 2k using a roller or brush and a charcoal mask, but you have to make sure it doesn't touch bare skin as it will be absorbed.
The breathing apparatus is positive air pressure so it doesn't need to fit snugly as the air is pushing out from under it so nothing can get in. To be honest I think I've just talked myself out of selling it!

good point, didnt think of the positive air pressure. Sounds like id get away with a good mask and a divers tank aslong as my extraction in the booth is good enough, i dont spray cars and reckon i get through a 400ml can in two days so its not a constant large amout of fumes id be dealing with
ive never used a 2k primer so might try that once im setup, its not essential to use a 2k primer if using 2k lacquer is it?
