250 miles on a tank of fuel

Right I reseted the trip meter when i filled it up and indicator says full.

now its reads 250 miles and fuel light has come on.

this is a fairly rough estimate.

but does that sound right ?

i gotta make at least 6 miles tomorrow to petrol station! hope i make it!!!:shocked:
 
Nice number, In my daily drive I do about 200 miles with my honda civic ex 97, 1600 cc d16 something motor.

My country is very small, and you have to stop all the time in the city, thats why I do a lot less miles than you guys :)

NO WAY, there has to be something wrong with your car, thats the exact same car i have as my daily. i get 30mpg and i drive crazy!!

how many miles are on it?
air filter been changed?
is there A LOT of stuff in the car?

my wheel bearings went out at about 164,000 miles and it lowered my gas mileage to about 21mpg so it might be that. or if your tires are under inflated or if your alignment is VERY bad.

i live in stop and go traffic too.

Yea but how about your driving style?? :drive: No way to cover 250 miles with some hard/high rev driving. 250-270 miles should be the maximum distance you can cover with a full EK9 tank and driving that does not exceed 3000-4000 rpm + smooth gas pedaling :)

i got 22-24mpg driving like a maniac when i was NA. i think its more the short gearing that affects the gas mileage. like on the highway im at 4500rpm going 80mph while most other cars are between 3000-3500

We are talking about traveling distances with the most gentle driving, so, what do you mean by saying that short gearing affects the gas mileage??
Short gearing doesn't mean necessarily high revving nor harsh pedaling, right?? So it always depends on how you work your foot on the pedal.
By comparing 4500 rpm/first gear with 4500 rpm/fifth gear, there is no difference in fuel consumpion unless you give much(or full) throttle in both cases where the first gear will consume more fuel cuz its much more responsive isn't it?? Just because you hear the transmission working much faster at 5000 rpm and the car is "shaken" that doesn't mean that it consumes more fuel than traveling in the highway with 5th gear at 5000 rpm :)
BUT, going through traffic where you have to stop every second and laungh again, that consumes a lot more fuel even if your very gentle......
 
hmmm 250 is a lot? I thought it was not! because i see the fuel going down where before i don't use to....


driving style wise, it was a mixed 50/50 city slow traffic, motorway at 80mph.

some VTEC and hard driving. but i would say 80% sensible.

So I guess the fuel consumption is normal.

i was just saying the higher your rpms are the more fuel you will burn assuming all other things are equal.
 
i got close to 300 hwy miles i stay away from traffic in houston it realy sucks but not as much as L.A.
 
so what would be the most ecconomical spped and at which gear? 30 Mph in 4th or 47 in 5th i think.

It has 90,000 miles hehe, and the car needs the major service, hahaha, I was suppose to do it 1040 miles ago lol :lol:
 
At the minute i drive a 1.4 civic while im modding my sir and I only get 280 miles to a tank!
