I'm redoing the suspension on my 2000 civic and was a little thrown after I read the FAQ here involving swaybars. The Si came with a 26 in the front and a 13 in the rear and it goes against what i read where most setups are either equal in size or a larger one in the rear.

I need to get a rear swaybar because the original one is rusted pretty bad and what to do things right.

What size do you guys recommend and should I be going to a small bar in the front?

NO, that swaybar setup is fine for the type of car its on. Think about it, its a FWD car with the engine and most of the weight up front. It needs the bigger ARB at the front to compensate for this. Thats not to say you cant run a bigger rear ARB if you want, but definitely keep the standard or bigger sized front ARB.

Thats the standard thickness roll bars i had on my coupe as well.
I reccomend changing the rear to a CTR roll bar with an ASR brace.
SI's tend to suffer from over steer because the back of the car just is not stiff enough.
I noticed a massive difference when i changed my roll bars, the back end does not want to come around on me under hard braking and feels more planted in the high speed corners.

should of added this:

ran this ASR brace and ARB on my old vti and it handled brilliantly with it installed, although it wrecked through rear droplinks!

Christ those coupes must be floppy, usually a bigger rear ARB increases oversteer...

Thats initially what i thought.
I did a few trackdays when the coupe was bog standard. Everytime i hit the brakes hard, the back end wanted to come straight by me. On the long fast corners i'd be sawing at the wheel trying to keep it steady but it would just oversteer no matter what!
Much better set up now though, things feel neutral and steady.

Yep, it was an awesome upgrade on my EK4, highly recommended. :nice:
