I have a stock 96 Civic CX and I am looking for better handling and have always found sway bars are the best bang for the buck. Does anyone have any cheap sway bar recommendations! Thanks

I have a 96 cx and i personally have ST 24mm bar up front which was about $165 and the ST speedtech 22mm + reinforcement plate in the rear. an ASR+ctr bar would be good in the rear also, spring rates also play a roll, i am 250lb in rear and 440lb in the front IIRC.

i used to have all kinds of strut bars and tie bars but they all had to come off, they made a big difference before i added the sway bars, but once the sway bars where on removing the strut/tie bars did nothing.

-front strut bar came off for catch can
-lower front tie bar came off for 3" down pipe
-rear strut bar came off cause i put interior back in the car and didnt wanna cut anything
-rear lower tie bar came off for the ST speedtech kit.

I love the way my car handles, its a bit rough but not too bad, oh and i have koni yellows...

Do CX's have the whole to attach sway bars?
I'll have to agree with you blinx about the spring rates. From i've been told you either get massive sway bars but lower springs rates or higher spring rates and smaller sway bars. I plan on running the CTR's front/rear sway bars myself...

It's better to start with the 99/00 Si front LCAs as they are stamped steel instead of the cast units. They are stronger and have all the necessary mounting holes.

I think ST makes a good product, but there's also no faulting the goodness of OEM for the front assembly while supplementing other hardware with urethane bushings for the endlinks and D-brackets from say Energy Suspension.

ASR for a 22mm and larger rear bar is desirable. Otherwise, some people opt for smaller units which perform well if you're not on track frequently or want something more sano for the street.

Thanks for the input. I am strictly going to use it on the street. I will just be a fun commuter. Im not sure if I want to go through the expense of putting on the 99 si lca's.

getting the suspension and the brakes first while going for upgrades is very good. it not only gives better handling put also is a good from maintenance point of view. i also got the upgrades done on my 96 civic and now it is really fun going around on empty streets. planning to go with a engine swap soon however need to fix my budget first as these things end up spiraling out of control soon.

no, i had to use aftermarket rear LCA's and the front uses some weird bracket to mount to the control arm...

hey blinx.. my LCA have a small hole in them looks like there for endlinks ....i thnk i can get a pic up . but i always thought those were for the endlinks .. am i wrong ???

I have a 19mm sway bar collecting dust. I'm planning to put that on a cdn EJ hatch cx. My question is i'm planning to get a BWR rear sub brace. Will my 19mm clear it ??
