Just a quick question about insurance, how many people on this have or had an EJ9 as a 1st car between the ages of 17&19?. And roughly whats the average insurance quotes are you getting and paying?.

:thanks:

I've heard scary prices for ej's.
It depends a lot on where you stay (postcode).
There a few little things you can do to reduce the premium,
Add a female second driver (your mum).
If you pay annually its a lot cheaper.
If you have use of a company car/works van, tell them as this should reduce it further.

Its a rip-off, I had an EJ9 for three years from 17 Y.O. When I insured it at 17 it was £1400 but prices nowadays who knows probably about £3/4k is what you're looking at as a young first time driver

I stay on the outskirts of glasgow in a village well you could call it when before this massive estate got built lol but its more less out the way 10 mins from glasgow city centre, and yeah thats what im thinking of doing putting my mum and possibly my dad but he doesnt stay in this country no more so i doubt he will going on it. Thanks but mate :)

Coming from someone who's done it, dont bother. They are stupid expensive.

going rate for a 1.2 corsa in rotherham area is about 4k, i pay 2k for my itr at 23 and that's looking to go up rather than down this year with no accidents. as above, rips offs but i'd rather pay 2k for an itr that i can enjoy than 1.5k for a corsa i'd hate been in

When i first passed they wanted £5k -.- so brought myself a 1.2 clio which was £2.2k insure, sold it 3 months later and got an ej9 which moved my insurance up to £2.5k, now im 19 with 1 NCB and its £1.6k until i lowered it the otherday and it went up £385, seriously f*ck insuance companies when you're young and go near civics

Any car you pick that is slightly interesting will be expensive
I was 19 before I had my civic and it was 1800 with 1 years no claims
And this was 2 years ago so add at least 300 to that I would have thought
At the end of the day
If you want a car you can enjoy you will have to pay more for it
You will have to decide what you want :)

I'm 19, paying £730 for my EJ9 but that's with 5 years no claims though.. (you can get a ped over here when you're 14.)

I'm 22 with 2year NCB paying £1160. Can't get a reasonable price on a civic these days.

How are you paying so much? I'm 23 and got 6 points and 1 year ncb only £500ish

I don't understand how people get it so cheap.

When I was 18 I was paying £700 as a named driver.

I'm 21 paying £920 for an ek with all
Mods declared eg. b series swap, wheels, lowered, exhaust etc. flux direct ftw they wanted £1800 for a standard car but £920 with mods.

Insurance companies I've have always been with are the admiral group, ie , Bell , admiral and elephant :)

Always Been far cheaper than the rest ! 1400 fc when I was 19 on my ek9 and 1100 this year and I'm 20 now !
