16 or 15 rims

currently running on 15 oem rims on my ek9...should upgrade to 16.Will it improve my handling,planning to load in a p 300mm brake kit or should i just stay 15 and be happy with the spoons?Advice advice advice...
 
I would never say 16 inch wheels are an upgrade from 15's only good thing could be better traction and availability to have larger brakes and obviously aesthetically if larger wheels are your thing.

For every other reason IMO 15>16.

it depends on the car and the purpose. Alot of tuning companies run 16 or 17 in ek's that need the larger size to put the power down, and the room for larger brakes. I've run 16's in my ek9 with no adverse affect to the handling or acceleration. If i were you i'd try and get a hold of 16's and try for yourself. There is no subsitute for experience imo.

that sounds good,Just got my ek9 about 2 weeks ago.My final destinal will be a k swap.For now i wanna get it right from bottom up.I have a spare set of te37 16 x7 x33 offset.Will get new tyres and the ap 5000 series brake kit and chasis reinforcement.My ek9 came with a 6 point roll cage bit im not a fan of roll cages.Im gonna take out the roll cage and keep it simple.I heard lots about k swap.the do and donts.Many have told me that the ek9 chasis is not sutiable to swap in the k20a.handling will be affected and wil not handle as good.My lust for the k series is getting stronger everyday.Its my daily,so lots of concerns.
 
i think you'll benefit from the roll cage.i notice a great chassis rigidity after installing my roll cage.
 
i run 16's but thats only because they didnt do the wheel i wanted any smaller, but if you match the tyre sizes from the original 15's there cant be that much of a difference, the only good thing i found is i could go a little bit wider to 215/50/16 which helped alot with my power output

The main reason why people say k swaps are adverse to to handling is because they sit right out there on the front of the chassis even thought is lighter than the B series. Also because of the rotation of the engine it sits more on the drivers side, affecting the L and R balance. Which would actually be of benefit to a LHD civic as the driver and engine are on opposite sides then. If your doing all that work to upgrade your cars handling and performance i would seriously consider keeping the cage in it, as it will keep the chassis nice and rigid!

i love to keep the cage but my country says its illegal to have 6 point roll cage in road running cars.Your advice is very valuable,thanks again.Seems like its better to stay with the b16b and enjoy in its original form from what i gather from your words.
 
I have had 15's and they were awesome, the only reason i would go 16 is as the boys said for larger brakes or for more traction alot of the jap time attack cars run 16's on the front and 15's on the rear for traction etc. my little bit :)
