right i purchased a Phearable.net obd1 ecu and harness to go on my 1998 ek4 apparently the ecu is for a jdm car and after plugging it in the car wont idle and its miss firing according to the seller its somethin to do with a sensor.any ideas on this?.thanks alot

Have you another ecu to try? That is the first thing id try to eliminate the chipped ecu causing the problem. Is the engine check light on?

yea the light is on with the chipped ecu but car is fine with the standard ecu
the bloke i bought it off had it running on his ek4 with no problems. he says its somthing to do with a sensor and its an easy fix hes meant to be getting back to me tommorow on the matter

Jump the service connector and see what code its throwing. Your using a obd2-obd1 jumper harness? And is it the same harness he was using or your own?

Can you hit vtec with this ecu? The obd1 vtec ecu's look for a signal from "vtec oil pressure switch" which most of the obd2 ecu's do not require. Your jumper harness should have a wire joining the wire of pin A4 to D6 to over come this problem. Post up a pic of your harness and I can tell you if its already wired that way
