I reckon splicing into the grey wire from the clocks will be the same thing as having it wired in at the gearbox end man. S'long as the ECU receives the chipped signal your all good aren't you?

What car is it Kozy? If it's a UK car with a JDM engine the ECU will be looking for the ELD, but if you're on you're standard fusebox, it aint there! Not a problem though from what I've gathered
