Hi all I'm seriously thinking of doing a f20 converstion into my 9. Does any one have any idea on were I would start lol. Just can't see how its going to fit?, also how would the diff bolt onto the rear of my 9. I'm guessing some work would be need to be done to the chassis ect but what? I'm guessing it would cost more then a k20 swop but how much roughly? Any info on this would be much appreciated

Thanks

A lot of work mate,
You'll need to have all sorts of custom mounts And make up a custom transmission tunnel,
Custom means money mate, my guess is over 12k for it to work and be useable.

I think it would be easier to make a k20 mid engined ek9 than an f20 ek.
Tune it up still have like 250-260hp and rear wheel drive.

Just get an s2k and track prep that. Will be a much better car.

Cause how many s2ks do you see on the road? How many f20 ek9s do you see on the road? Not keen on a s2k tbh or I would have had one by now.

You don't see any f20 ek9's and there's a reason for that.
1. Your making the ek9 heavier( the best thing about them imo)and a lot less responsive( I've had both ek9 and s2k) s2k felt sluggish until you were at about 4.5-5k.
2. Your ruining a perfectly good s2k which is a crime in itself.
3. If you count what 4.5k for ek9 another 4.5k for s2k.
Plus all the custom work and fabrication I'm willing to bet 20k is the total cost. What you left with for 20k? Still an old 90's civic with a 2.0L in.

And a you've destroyed 2 good cars to get there,
Lets face it just a pipe dream anyway. I mean of you want to sink that cash into making it happen then FairPlay to you.

You don't see RWD F20Cs on the road because of the cost in building one. I wouldn't expect much (nay, any) change from £25k, and it still wouldn't be as good as a £6k S2000.

I've seen sillier projects, admittedly, but I think the the overwhelming majority, this would file under the 'utterly pointless' category.

The best way, if you are serious, is to take an EK9 bodyshell and graft it onto an S2000 floorplan.

Floor pan idea would probably be less costly I would have thought.
Wheelbase the same? Width?

Civic 2620mm
S2000 2400mm

No, that won't work either then.

This is a 'Grade 1' WPM

I saw a picture of a f20 dc2 looks awsome.

As I said it was something that I thought of doing then saw a picture of a f20 dc2 so I thought I'd find out more.

I would say what would be needed would be a credit card with an unlimited cap.

It wouldn't just be about making the engine fit it would also be mounting the rear subframe for the diff. Then getting a properly sized driveshaft made (doubt the s2000 one would fit if the cars are of different sizes). Also building a custom tunnel for the gearbox. Then you would have to convert the rear suspension to double wishbone which I would think would be just as hard as getting everything else sorted.

I think what Jeremy Clarkson would say about this is "Ambitious but rubbish". Although if you came back here in a year with a RWD 9 I would eat my words.

You need lube... Lots of lube. Anything will fit if you use lube :)

I saw a video on YouTube of a rwd sr20det ek if that's an easier swap

Personally wouldn't ruin an ek9, would just start with a poverty spec ek
