Basically already been answered but...
Pros - Manifold works more efficently due to keeping the heat in which in turn keeps the gas particals hotter, meaning more engery...meaning they disperse from the cylinder port quicker....
This also creates a vacum of low pressure behind itself which helps to pull through the next pulse of gas from the next turn of combustion, quicker.
It also acts as a thermal insulator, reducing the transfer of heat from the manifold into the engine bay area. The obviously reduces air intake temps, water, and other fluid temp etc which all helps when under high load!
Really impressed with the reduction in heat emitted from the manifold with this stuff on.
Cons - Can appear to rust the manifold a bit quicker, as the wrap can sometimes stay wet....but usully will evaporate with the heat....
Arguabley doesnt look as nice as a polished manifold......yet some prefer it.
I didnt wet mine when I put it on, but I will do next time as it does dry tighter (although if you take the time you can get it perfectly tight anyway) But it will also reduce the amount of fibres you inhale!!! as it they get everywhere.
The stuff I used has graphite added, (hence black....forgot what it did now)

Heres mine when I did it.
