at the moment on my ek4 sir i have a toda mani and de cat with a standard sir cat back. i'm just wondering how much power the standard cat back will be holding me back compaired to a good aftermarket cat back performance wise.

also car anybody recommend a good cat-back for the car i dont mind it being noisey just once it isn't buddy club spec 2 noisey.

thanks for any help.

You will gain a few bhp, most import is the header and decat.
Any 2,5" cat-back will do but if i'm right only the JDM brands have 2,5" cat-backs.

it will complement your decat and header but dont expect much , i always found that the decat always gave the most performance gains when it came to exhausts.

with decat its not frees the air up alot 6whp is resonable estimate

we are talking about CATBACK increases:nice:
and theres noway 6whp can be made over the stock ek9 cat back system which itself is very good
have you an ek9 or tested both or you just picking figures from the sky??

theres no need to be so cheeky everyone is intitled to there own opinion an estimate isnt always accurate thats why is a estimate

teh most restrictive thing is the cat and the header,, fit a header remove the cat and retain the stock very good exhaust system and i think you will maybe see 6whp gain max..
only reason to change stock exhaust would be for looks and sound its awesome already

only reason that sounded chheky is because you know you just picked figures from the sky to suit a bhp figure.....and the estimate is always higher than the actual figure for your pubtalk.....

as olly said, the header and cat are restrictive but the oem ek9 catback is a very very good system and you wont gain much from changing it

well acutuly i didnt pick them from the sky i used stevenek9's ek9. his made 191.4 at rr with panel filter and spoon elbow , spoon n1 and Fujitsubo 4-2-1 header. as far as i know it still has the cat. maybe not but thats almost 7 over standard and for sure it would have lost a few horses since it was produced so i didnt take figures from the sky. also most aftermarket cat backs are 2.5inch and standard is 2.25

Sorry to thread jack, but while we're on the subject of catbacks and decats I thought this link will interest a few members:

the one and only exhaust thread here - Team Integra

Jugbugz posted it up a while back. I've spoken to him and a few others about if decats are a worthwhile mod, and the answer was no.Plus the above link only claims a 2whp increase with a decat.
Having said that a few of my honda mates have decatted they're cars and claim to have felt a difference so I'm in two minds really? But surely you would'nt be able to feel a 2whp increase?

that is a very crude way of calculating power gains from a catback.....
the way to do it is to get a dyno on stock system and then swap catback to after market and dyno it again,i guarentee you wont make 6whp from a aftermarket catback on a stock ek9

i`ll stand beside absolutleysideways and wait for the figures to be proved. :nice:

191.4 output figure doesnt say anything unless you have a baseline figure to compare from when it is dead stock.

b16 + Intake + exhuast + headers usually give about 6whp peak gain. But with tuning you'll see a lot more.

B18 + catback = 6whp gain sounds better.

Yeh, I dont know why people say they feel increases when its already proven on a B18. Probally if their cat is full of **** then they might cause a restriction. You more likely feel an increase of Throttle response than power increase.
